Patients We Treat

Patients We Treat

Our physicians care for women who receive a diagnosis of gynecologic cancer or a pre-cancerous condition. We treat cancer of the ovary, cervix, uterus, vulva/vagina, and rare pregnancy-related tumors.

Some patients come to us for diagnosis or treatment of non-cancerous or pre-cancerous conditions. These are common symptoms or conditions that may prompt a referral:

  • Abnormal pap tests
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Vulvar irritations and/or lesions
  • Pelvic masses
  • Other complex gynecologic conditions

Others come to our specialists for treatment of cancers that have already been diagnosed.

Comprehensive Patient Care:

Our surgical and clinical experts developing unique treatment plans to fit each patient’s particular needs. Our gynecologic oncology specialists manage pre-cancerous conditions and are trained to perform complex, invasive surgeries. We administer chemotherapy and coordinate radiation treatments. We also provide post-treatment follow-up and surveillance for recurrent cancers.

Located in a world-class academic medical center, our specialists consult with experts from related fields: pathologists, radiation oncologists, breast specialists, geneticists, and reconstructive surgeons, and genetic specialists. Columbia’s affiliated hospital, NewYork Presbyterian, is ranked #1 in New York and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top academic institutions, according to US News & World Report. Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons is the only major medical school in New York City designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Supportive Services:

Nurses, psychiatrists, patient navigators and social workers are available to offer emotional, psychiatric and social support. We also offer complementary and alternative medicine options such as acupuncture and nutritional services.

State of the Art Treatments:
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery

All of our physicians are trained in the latest surgical techniques and equipment. They work to reduce surgical recovery times, advocating for minimally invasive vaginal, laparoscopic or robotic surgery, when appropriate. These procedures eliminate the need for large incisions.

  • Participation in Innovative Research

Our physicians are members of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, an association that gives our patients opportunities to enroll in innovative clinical trials investigating the latest, most promising chemotherapeutic treatments.
