Emergency aid reaching outer islands of Vanuatu after Pam

Emergency aid is beginning to reach some of the worst-hit islands in Vanuatu after Cyclone Pam tore through the country five days ago.

Planes have taken food, water and medical supplies to Tanna island and contact is finally being made with many of the communities outside of Port Vila.

Government spokesman Kiery Manesseh says that 90 percent of the country has been assessed and despite the widespread damage, the reports are encouraging.
