In the spirit of generating cultural debate, ABC Arts Online asked participants of the 2014 Remix Summit to respond to a series of polemics that feed off the themes of the event. Exploring the intersection between culture, technology and entrepreneurship, the Summit brought together leaders from different sectors to tackle the big ideas shaping the future of Australia's cultural and creative industries. Below are the polemics we posed, do you agree with the participants' propositions?

About

The Polemics
NEW SOCIO-ECONOMIC SYSTEMS: Facing the collapse of the capitalist system, Western society needs new models of trade and exchange. It is only through artists and the creative industries that solutions will be found.

ETHICS IN ARTS FUNDING: Arts organisations should be profit-driven and align themselves with private sector sponsors and not rely on state and federal government funding.

FUTURE CREATIVE CITIES: How do you imagine our future cities? Interconnecting, community orientated, arts-friendly medium density villages might sound nice but in reality Australian cities faced with rising populations will be dominated by market-driven high-rise developments.

DIGITAL CULTURE: Technology ultimately stifles creativity by encouraging us to engage with lots of things on a superficial level instead of connecting deeply with a smaller number of things.
