The Lithuanian Land Forces has received its first Accuracy International AXMC bolt-action sniper rifles, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced.
According to the MoD, the rifles were bought under a EUR1.3 million (USD1.4 million) contract with Accuracy International (AI). By the end of the year the AXMC rifles are to be distributed among the Land Forces' battalions and training facilities.
The AI AXMC rifles delivered to Lithuania are chambered in 8.6x70 mm (.338 Lapua Magnum), and can be reconfigured in field conditions (by changing the barrel, bolt, magazine, and magazine converter) to be fed in 7.62x51 mm NATO (.308 Winchester).
The Lithuanian rifles are equipped with a Kahles telescopic sight and a night vision attachment.
