I am at a stage in my atheistic philosophy where I really don’t think there is any particularly decent argument for theism. The only arguments that have any kind of relevance or traction are arguments from ignorance, where atheism or naturalism has no definite answer, and this allows the possibility for the existence of God. However, given the omni-characteristics of OmniGod that I so often write about, the gap that potentially remains for God, even if she does overcome Ockham’s Razor… Read more

Jeremiah Traeger, contributor here at ATP, has kindly reviewed my fiction book Survival of the Fittest: Metamorphosis (UK readers) and posted it on Amazon. Here is the review. Grab yourself a copy for some winter reading! 5.0 out of 5 stars Zombies, comedy, and theology? By Jeremiah Traeger on October 23, 2018 It drops you in focusing exactly the type of people you would expect to avoid such an outbreak. A few characters are societal-shut ins, and a few just happen to be enjoying nature… Read more

It’s Halloween, and this image is being shared around again: I think the jack-O’-lantern is genuinely hilarious. The notion of avoiding this inference is certainly a spooky thing to be avoided in science, making for a funny pumpkin, but the statement doesn’t hold absolutely. I wrote a post on it last year, talking about statistical inference. The gist of it is that while we aren’t justified in inferring causation just from a statistical correlation, our scientific knowledge and models do… Read more

Here is what the Chicago Times, Oct 14, 1894, said about a talk by Robert Ingersoll: When Ingersoll reached the words “He did not know”a great sigh of relief went up from the mighty audience [of 4000].There was an instant of silence, and then a storm of applause that rose and surged and echoed from stage to top gallery. The hand-clapping died away and then rose again this time a great burst of cheering accompanied it. Ingersoll stood there silent,… Read more

Bernie Sanders can see into the future. He predicted exactly what is happening. Watch this. It is a facebook video that I cannot find on YouTube, but turn off your facebook blockers and check the prescience. I recently received the following in an Email from my friend fellowfeather. I thought the readership here on ATP would find it interesting and provocative. I asked his permission to post it, which he granted. Note: I took the code itself and about sixty percent of what is here from a long essay, How Morality Has the Objectivity that Matters – Without God, by Dr. Ronald A. Lindsay, published by Free Inquiry, August/September 2014. The rest is mine. [email protected] It… Read more

I have a friend named Bob who is a devout religious believer. He is also an alcoholic, a conspiracy theory believer and a believer in spirits…ghosts, poltergeists, etc. A nutcase? Possibly, but he is intelligent and articulate, reads a lot (mostly trash novels) and loves to research stuff on the Web, particularly about conspiracies. He is an interesting and entertaining guy. He recently told me of some of his spiritual experiences, and I am quite certain he has described them… Read more

I recently posted a few posts in a series of articles concerning some research by Joseph Langston into conversions from atheism to Christianity. As he predicted, a kickback from atheists was on the cards. This can be seen in the posts and the comments to these posts: On Atheist Conversions to Christianity How I Define Atheism Langston on the Validity of Christian Conversions from Atheism I have edited a collection of deconversion accounts from different religions to atheism and agnosticism… Read more
