Partnership Programme
To prepare for the launch of new banknotes, the European Central Bank and the national central banks of the Eurosystem have set up the Partnership Programme. It offers banknote equipment manufacturers and suppliers, other professional organisations and associations as well as their clients, and users a wide range of information about the new banknotes free of charge.
The Programme is also aimed at commercial banks, retailers, travel industry professionals, bureau de change operators and others who use banknote equipment or handle cash on a daily basis.
To apply for the Partnership Programme, please fill out the registration form with your contact details and a short description of what your company is planning for the introduction of the new €100 and €200 banknotes.
Under the Partnership Programme, the ECB and the national central banks will:
- emphasise the importance of adapting cash-handling machines and authentication devices to the new banknotes;
- organise a series of events and actions leading up to the launch of the new banknotes;
- deliver digital and print media about the new banknotes, in 23 official European Union languages, to help partners communicate with their target groups.
Partners are expected to:
- inform their stakeholders and the public in good time;
- ensure that their machines and equipment will accept the new banknotes.

Updating machines for new banknotes
To enable the testing and adaptation of machines, new banknotes are made available to banknote equipment manufacturers, suppliers and owners of machines and authentication devices at the euro area national central banks and in other locations. Furthermore, seminars covering the details of the issuance are held throughout the euro area.
A regularly updated list of banknote authentication devices and banknote handling machines tested by the Eurosystem central banks for compatibility with new banknotes is available.
