With 10.29 million viewers, the second episode of the final season of “Game of Thrones,” titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” is the fourth-largest episode in the history of the show in terms of linear audience, according to Nielsen’s preliminary figures.

This represents a dip of 12.5 percent from the premiere which drew 11.76 million in the same category. HBO has yet to release the multi-platform figures for the episode.

Only the final season premiere, the season seven finale (which garnered 12.07 million viewers), and the seventh episode of season seven (10.72 million) had more viewers that Sunday’s offering.

Across all platforms, the season 8 premiere drew 17.4 million viewers. Last Sunday also accounted for largest night of streaming activity ever for HBO, and the premiere was also the most-tweeted episode in “Thrones” history with more than 5 million tweets on the day it aired.

HBO has given a series order to the comedy “Avenue 5” from creator Armando Iannucci.

The series is described as a space tourism comedy set forty years in the future when the solar system is everyone’s oyster. Hugh Laurie stars as Ryan Clark, the captain of the space cruise ship Avenue 5. The series also stars Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Nikki Amuka, Rebecca Front, Lenora Crichlow, Suzy Nakamura, and Ethan Phillips.

Iannucci created the series and will serve as executive producer. Kevin Loader, Simon Blackwell, Tony Roche, and Will Smith will also executive produce. Iannucci also directed the show’s pilot episode.

News of the series order comes as HBO is currently airing the seventh and final season of “Veep,” the political comedy series that Iannucci created. He served as showrunner on “Veep” up until the end of its fourth season, after which he departed to work on other projects.

Jake Lacy is joining Hulu’s “High Fidelity” series adaptation, a Hulu spokesperson and a representative for Lacy told TheWrap on Monday. Lacy will be a series regular alongside previously announced lead Zoë Kravitz.

The series recently moved to Hulu from Disney+, following Disney’s acquisition of Fox assets, which included a 60% stake in Hulu. The project comes from writers Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka, as well as Midnight Radio and ABC Signature.

A retelling of the 1995 novel by Nick Hornby and the 2000 feature film starring John Cusack, the new iteration will flip the script by telling the story from a female point of view through Kravitz’s character.

“The Good Fight” has been renewed for a fourth season at CBS All Access, Variety has learned.

The legal drama, executive produced and run by Michelle King and Robert King, is currently streaming its third season on the Eye’s digital network.

Netflix is set to add another adult animated show to its burgeoning slate, Variety as confirmed.

The streamer has put out a series order of “Inside Job” from “Gravity Falls” and “Disenchantment” writer Shion Takeuchi. The show will be the first series Takeuchi produces under her recently-signed overall deal with Netflix.

The 20-episode adult animated series will be produced at Netflix Animation and is described as a workplace comedy set in the shadow government, where every conspiracy theory — from the Illuminati to Reptoids — is true, and one woman struggles to keep the chaos under wraps.

“Gravity Falls” creator Alex Hirsch will co-executive produce the show.

Over the 11-season run of “Life Below Zero,” the NatGeo series has won a trio of Emmys. If, in addition to Cinematography and Picture Editing, there was a category for “pulling a snowmobile from a freezing lake in the immediate aftermath of a dangerous windstorm,” the show might be up for a few more.

The new short form series “Life Behind Life Below Zero” (itself competing for an Emmy this year) charts the behind-the-scenes efforts it takes to document life in extreme freezing conditions. The weekly “Game of Thrones” festivities got off to an auspicious start on Sunday when Amazon Prime subscribers in Germany gained early access to the second episode of the HBO series’ farewell season.

In an oversight that took longer than the length of “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” to rectify, customers were able to watch the episode well in advance of others around the globe.

“We regret that for a short time Amazon customers in Germany were able to access episode two of season eight of Game of Thrones…This was an error and has been rectified,” a company representative told the BBC.

It’s the latest challenge in a series of efforts to ensure that viewers across the globe are experiencing new episodes of the show at the same time. Massive measures have been put in place to prevent footage leaks, including the ongoing decision to withhold advance screeners from press outlets.

At the Time 100 Summit on Tuesday, Ryan Murphy revealed that he has 10 greenlit projects in the pipeline at Netflix, including three documentaries, four TV shows, and three movies.

Murphy has previously announced five titles slated for a Netflix release. Three are shows, including “Ratched,” the drama series starring Sarah Paulson as the infamous Nurse Ratched; “The Politician,” a political satire featuring Ben Platt; and “Hollywood,” which focuses on the golden age of Tinseltown.

He has also announced two Netflix film adaptations of Broadway productions. The first is “The Prom,” set for a September 2020 debut, and the other is “The Boys in the Band

“Shazam!” star Zachary Levi will be suiting up next for the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards in June.

Levi will emcee the award show on June 17 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.

Fresh off DC Comics’ latest blockbuster, Levi is no stranger to superhero pics, having first appeared in “Thor: The Dark World” as the Asgardian hero Fandral. He also helped take home a SAG Award for the ensemble cast in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” in which he plays a new love interest for Rachel Brosnahan’s titular character in the second season.

“Shazam!” has become one of the year’s surprise hits with both critics and audiences. So, naturally, the next step is for its star, Zachary Levi, to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The network announced on Tuesday that Levi will assume hosting duties for the upcoming 2019 installment of the awards show, held in Santa Monica at Barker Hanger on June 17.

In addition to the current success of “Shazam!” Levi has established history on the TV side of things. Star of the long-running NBC series “Chuck,” Levi most recently took part in Season 2 of the Amazon Prime Video series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

After saving the world on screens big (Shazam!) and small (Chuck…!), Zachary Levi is teaming up with MTV to help pay tribute to them both. Levi will serve as host of the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, airing Monday, June 17 at 9/8c, TVLine has learned.

The two brothers who allegedly participated in a staged hate attack on Jussie Smollett have filed a defamation suit against Smollett’s lawyers, accusing the attorneys of smearing their reputations in a bid to salvage Smollett’s image.

Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo filed suit in federal court in Illinois on Tuesday. Laura Donnelly, no stranger to portraying period-piece badasses, next will do so as the star of Joss Whedon’s HBO drama The Nevers.

The actress, who plays Outlander straight-shooter Jenny Fraser Murray in Starz’s Scottish historical drama, will lead what is described as an “epic science-fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies and a mission that might change the world.” The premium cabler gave the project a straight-to-series order in July.
