About prime ministerial records
Prime ministers create records during, before and after their term in office. Records created by the prime minister in their official capacity are usually held by the National Archives of Australia.
Prime ministers also create many personal records – diaries, speeches, records relating to their electorate, photographs, files about significant issues, newspaper clippings, press releases and correspondence. Many of these personal records have been deposited in libraries, archives and museums in Australia and overseas.
