Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho thanked a ballboy for playing a part in Harry Kane's goal against Olympiacos on Tuesday night (left and right). With Tottenham trailing 2-1, the ball went out for a throw-in to the hosts and a ballboy raced to throw the ball to Serge Aurier (centre). Aurier then found Lucas Moura with his throw and the Brazilian crossed for Harry Kane, who slotted home the equaliser. Mourinho, in his first home game as Tottenham manager, was quick to acknowledge the part that the ballboy played in Kane's strike. The Portuguese high-fived and hugged the ballboy, which will no doubt help to endear him to Tottenham fans. Mourinho praised the ballboy after the game. Speaking to BT Sport, Mourinho said: 'I love intelligent ballboys. I was a brilliant ballboy as a kid and this kid was brilliant. He understands the game and he got an assist.'

PETE JENSON: How would Gareth Bale have celebrated had his last minute free-kick hit the back of the net instead of the post in Real Madrid's extraordinary 2-2 draw with Paris Saint Germain?

Manchester United and Tottenham have been dealt a blow ahead of the January transfer window as Bruno Fernandes committed his future to Sporting Lisbon.

TOTTENHAM 4-2 OLYMPIACOS - MARTIN SAMUEL AT THE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM: In the first-half we saw why Jose Mourinho got the Tottenham job; in the second, why he wanted it. Sloppy, sluggish and complacent, became vibrant, skilful and energised; two goals down became 4-2 up. What Mourinho knows he must achieve from here is greater consistency.  It cannot be that two Tottenhams turn up in the same campaign, or on the same night. On one hand, Harry Kane is the quickest player to 20 goals in the Champions League, reaching that milestone in 24 matches, two fewer than Alessandro Del Piero, the Juventus legend.

'That's the look of a man who has been subbed before': Peter Crouch sees the funny side as he has to make early exit from BT Sport punditry duty after losing his voice

Crouch was meant to be involved in BT Sport's coverage of Jose Mourinho's first game as Spurs manager at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in their European tie against Olympiakos, alongside Rio Ferdinand and Glenn Hoddle. However, Crouch made a quick dash after being unable to hit the right notes on the night, with host Gary Linekar in a playful mood as the big man left the set. Holding his nose as he shook Crouch's hand, Linekar said: 'Well, no more Crouch on the couch. He's no slouch, he's just got a sore throat and no voice. Ouch.'

Krepin Diatta's goal saw the Belgian champions snatch a 1-1 draw in their Champions League group stage clash away in Turkey. But it was overshadowed almost immediately after Diatta was shown a second yellow card for taking his shirt off in his exuberant celebrations by Slovak referee Ivan Kruzliak.

Anthony Joshua has touched down in Saudi Arabia ahead of his heavyweight title rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr on December 7 – and he will have a familiar support network to call upon. But who exactly are they? Robert McCracken (No.1) has been by Joshua’s side as his head coach since he turned professional and rose to become world champion. It’s a family affair in more ways than one with his cousin, Ben Ileyemi, acting as head of security (9). Elsewhere, Jamie Reynolds (6), has helped whip the former champion into shape as his strength and conditioning coach. There are plenty of other key players not pictured in AJ’s latest social media post, including his promoter Eddie Hearn, his PR manager Andy Bell (right, bottom), and right-hand man Leon Skinner, who once acted in the 2006 film Notes on a Scandal alongside Dame Judy Dench.

JOFRA ARCHER - COLUMN: The first thing I want to say about what happened towards the end of the Test at Mount Maunganui is that I'm over it. I've left what happened at the ground and I've moved on. I should also say it was just one person who was shouting stuff. But I found the incident a real shame. When you come to another country, you half expect fans to have a go at your cricket. If someone wants to shout at me and tell me I'm bowling badly, that's fine. I may not agree but it's fine. It's part of the experience of being a touring cricketer. To hear racism, though - that's another matter. There is no time or place for it in any walk of life, let alone cricket. It's just not called for.

LAWRENCE BOOTH IN HAMILTON: A difficult few days for England took another twist after it emerged Chris Silverwood would be flying home after the second day of the second Test.

PETE JENSON: Valencia know to take nothing for granted as they face Chelsea on Wednesday. They know much has changed since the middle of September when they took a 1-0 victory from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have got N'Golo Kante back while the Spanish are missing midfielders Geoffrey Kondogbia and Francis Coquelin. Frank Lampard's team are now in the top four while Valencia are down in 10th. But there is one thing that has definitely improved for Valencia - their Uruguayan centre-forward Maxi Gomez has found his feet.

Warrington coroner Alan Moore said dental records proved beyond doubt that the 37-year-old died on May 15 when his Range Rover collided with a van and that there was no evidence of foul play. His ruling contradicted an extraordinary claim by Mr Samuel's sister, Leslie-Ann, (left) that her brother was still alive and his death had been faked by his interior designer wife, Emma (right). Also pictured is Samuel with Emma (top) and the crash site (bottom).

Wanderers had been saved but another battle was beginning. They had started the season with a 12-point deduction and just half a dozen senior players. Manager Phil Parkinson quit as the team embarked on a run of three 5-0 defeats in a row. That was where Hill and his assistant David Flitcroft came in. King told the club's annual general meeting that he was quitting because Rangers had emerged from the 'crisis' he found when he and his allies gained control of the boardroom in March 2015.

It has gone down in history as Manchester United's worst kit ever and the drab grey number that was infamously ditched by Sir Alex Ferguson halfway through a game at Southampton in April 1996 has pride of place in the hall of shame at a new exhibition at the National Football Museum. 'Strip! How Football Got Shirty' has opened at the museum in Manchester, showcasing the largest ever curated collection of shirts in the country.  It includes the popular designs worn by England and West Germany at Italia '90 and Brazil's iconic 1970 jersey, and there's room for some of the biggest fails with United's grey away kit prominent among them.

He's not happy! Cristiano Ronaldo fails to see the funny side after being nutmegged during Juventus training… but Paulo Dybala and Co find it hilarious!

There is something about players with particularly inflated egos getting a taste of their own medicine from time to time. Not that Cristiano Ronaldo will agree after he bore the brunt of a practical joke cleverly executed by his Juventus team-mates. What is perhaps even more entertaining is that veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci played a key role in making Ronaldo look a little daft.

Having already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will leave many of his key players behind in Manchester for the trip to Kazakhstan.

LAWRENCE BOOTH IN HAMILTON: Chris Silverwood has admitted he is trying to take some of the weight off Joe Root as the England captain seeks to emerge from one of the worst ruts of his career.
