Scientific project and activities

 

The Éric Weil Institute (EWI) takes part in the funding of activities such as the publishing, translation and analysis of Éric Weil’s work. It supports research on subjects this work explored and, more generally, on the history of ideas and concepts. It thus participates in the implementation of the research policy of the University of Lille 3 in partnership with the SHS Doctoral School and the research laboratories.

The EWI endeavours to develop outside partnerships. These lead to the building up of thematic networks and joint research programs (on the work of Éric Weil and on the issues this work explored). Thus, the EWI aims particularly to host PhD students and researchers, to set up permanent discussion and seminar groups via the Institute’s website, to take part in symposiums and workshops.

 

 

Hosting researchers and PhD students

One of the strong lines of the EWI project is to participate in the hosting of doctoral and post-doctoral students, especially foreign ones, for one- to six-month stays. The hosting of these students is preferably organized within joint research programs set up with the laboratories and the universities engaged in partnerships with the EWI. It may be co-funded.

Publications and translations

The EWI carries on a program supporting the translation of Éric Weil’s work and the publication of works which focus on this work and on the issues it raises.

 

Digitisation

A digitisation program of the Éric Weil archive and of the rare books in the Bibliothèque Éric Weil (Éric Weil Library) is in progress. This program also concerns Éric Weil’s writings and the research on his work. It will continue in 2012-2013, in collaboration with the SCD (University Library) of the University of Lille 3.

The writings of and on Éric Weil, copyright free, will progressively be made available to researchers in the “Textes en ligne” (online texts) section.
