Heavy Medal readers submitted their first lists of potential 2021 Newbery contenders. The early leaders feature a the true story of a famous pilot and a novel about a girl trying to connect with her imprisoned father.

The results of the Heavy Medal Committee’s 3rd Mock Newbery ballot are in and we still don’t have a clear winner. Results from Ballot #4 will be revealed later today.

Heavy Medal Readers’ Poll

The Heavy Medal Readers’ Poll is now open. Readers vote for one of our 15 Heavy Medal finalists (or write-in another title). Results will be announced late Sunday.

HMC Ballot #3 – Discussion of the Final 7

There are now just six titles remaining as finalists for the Heavy Medal Mock Newbery. Committee Members will continue discussing these titles and submit 3rd ballots soon.

2nd Ballots are in, and still no clear winner of the Heavy Medal Mock Newbery. Committee members will now decide how many of the contenders should remain on Ballot #3, which will go out soon
