Trainee sub-editor scheme

The Guardian is running an exciting new trainee scheme for sub-editors to join our editorial department

The scheme will provide an opportunity for four talented journalists who want to work in production.

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to rotate on to the following departments, G1 print, digital news, sport and features.

The trainee sub-editor must be able to sub quickly and accurately under pressure and have a flair for writing headlines.

Please note this trainee scheme includes both weekend shifts and night shifts.

The role will be appointed on a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is a production job only and not a stepping stone into writing.

The successful candidates will be NCTJ trained or equivalent, or have equivalent experience as a production journalist.

The 2018 scheme is now closed for applications.
