Aim of the course
Weight and Balance engineer course aims to introduce the Airbus method to design the weight and balance operational documentation (Balance chart, AHM560/565). The training also presents the Airbus aircraft weight limitations and the Center of Gravity limitations to check, to operate the aircraft.
This course, which is not an ab-initio course but a “transition” course, aims at bringing to Weight and Balance engineers the knowledge of the aircraft systems and limitations, the knowledge of the operational documentation, the knowledge of the Weight and Balance calculation techniques, as well as the knowledge of general Weight and Balance and regulation.
The course is designed for Weight and Balance Engineers or Performance Engineers familiar with Weight and Balance calculations.

Pre-requisite
- Qualified Weight and Balance Engineers or Performance Engineers familiar with weight and balance calculations
- Fluency in English (able to write, read and communicate at an adequately understandable level in English language)

Course content
This course covers the following topics:
- The Airbus Weight & Balance fundamentals: aircraft characteristics, Weight & Balance Manual (WBM), Airbus balance charts
- The Airbus method to produce the balance charts. This method details how to determine the operational margins for the CG limits and define the operational CG limits.
- The Airbus Weight limitations to check to operate the aircraft
- The Airbus Center of Gravity (CG) limitations to check to operate the aircraft
- Advanced operational considerations: last minute changes, CG optimization
This course is conducted with stand-up lectures and practical exercises.
It includes a presentation of FlySmart with Airbus (Loadsheet module) and Load and Trim sheet Software (LTS).
