On 27 April 2005, the very first A380 took to the skies in Toulouse – and with it a new standard of air travel opened to passengers.

It was love at first flight. The double deck A380 quickly became the passenger’s favourite, with more than 250 million travellers enjoying its unique experience.

Passengers were so eager to fly on this iconic plane that in 2014, Airbus launched the iflyA380.com booking assistant and app, facilitating direct access to the A380 experience. For the first time, travellers were willing to go the extra mile for the plane, not just the destination.

Inspired by over 50 A380 destinations, passengers can take a 360° virtual walk through the cabin, book a trip, and start dreaming about the flight.

It’s no wonder the aircraft is such a favourite: as the world’s most spacious aircraft, the A380 became the benchmark for accessible luxury, enabling passengers from Economy to First to be part of a better flying experience.

But the A380 didn’t just create new expectations for travel comfort. It also set new industry standards for innovation and efficiency, becoming the most environmentally-friendly wide-body jetliner in the skies.

Composite materials, which account for 25 per cent of the A380's structural weight, mean each A380 produces only 75 grams of CO2 per passenger kilometre. In the flight deck, the A380 combines improved aerodynamics, advanced flight control technology and commonality with all other Airbus fly-by-wire airliners, to deliver a smooth, stable flight from take-off to landing.
