Versatility and comfort: the best of both worlds

Airbus’ twin-engine H155 (formerly the EC155 B1) is designed for a wide range of missions, including corporate, offshore transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue and law enforcement operations. This high-end, 5-tonne helicopter is an enhanced version of the proven Dauphin family, positioning it as the most technologically-advanced rotary-wing aircraft in its category.

Global reach

The Dauphin H155 is flown by nearly 75 operators in more than 30 countries.

Aircraft

Rotor design excellence

The H155 is a member of the renowned Dauphin family and benefits from Airbus’ advanced rotor technology, providing the lowest vibration and sound signature in its class.

Its Spheriflex® main rotor head delivers a smooth ride – even at high speed – along with excellent handling qualities and in-flight stability.  The high-efficiency profile of its all-carbon fibre five blade main rotor allow greater lift and speed.

With the shrouded Fenestron® tail rotor, the H155 benefits from a low sound signature and low maintenance. The shrouded rotor concept delivers additional control while increasing safety during ground operations, especially in confined areas.

Durable and fast

The H155 is equipped with 2 Safran Arriel 2C2 turbine engines, which are fitted with Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) for fully automated one engine inoperative (OEI) safety. Thanks to its significant power, the H155 has a long flight range as well as the fastest cruising speed in its class.

Mission capability and durability are guaranteed by the H155’s airframe construction with highly resistant, corrosion-proof composite materials and light alloys.

The H155 offers a full-glass cockpit with large LCD screens, which reduce pilot workload, improve safety and facilitate maintenance. Two Garmin GTN 750 touchscreens are installed in the center console for enhanced situational awareness and connectivity.

Maintainable

The H155 benefits from years of Dauphin family experience and is designed to ensure low maintenance costs.

Its Spheriflex® main rotor head, shrouded Fenestron® tail rotor and composite tail rotor blades are designed for a long operational life and easy maintenance.  The helicopter’s Safran Arriel 2C2 turboshaft engines are of a modular design, with the installed powerplants reached by built-in steps on the aircraft and easy maintenance access.

Maintainability is further facilitated by the rotorcraft’s airframe construction with highly resistant, corrosion-proof composite materials and lightweight metal alloys. (See the HCare Services section for more information about services at Airbus.)

Available on the H155 is an optional full health and usage monitoring system (HUMS), along with integrated maintenance assistance based on data recording and proactive monitoring.

Oil and gas transportation

The H155 benefits from Airbus’ design and operational expertise as a leading helicopter supplier to the global oil and gas industry. This rotorcraft fulfils the most stringent safety requirements for missions to offshore platforms, with full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), a 4-axis automatic flight control system and cutting-edge digital avionics to reduce pilot workload and support the highest levels of flight safety.

Thanks to its high speed, compact airframe, high-set main rotor and shrouded tail rotor, the H155 is suited for even small, busy landing sites on land and at sea. The wide cabin’s low internal sound and vibration levels and comfortable seating for as many as 12 passengers and 2 pilots make it an ideal aircraft for long-haul missions and inter-rig shuttle transportation.

Optional equipment available to meet oil and gas industry standards include external life rafts, a traffic alert collision avoidance system (TCAS) and enhanced ground proximity (GPWS), cockpit voice and flight data recorders, along with health and usage monitoring systems.

Law enforcement, search and rescue

The H155's high speed and long endurance make it an ideal tool for law enforcement duties ranging from patrol and the airlift of special weapons (SWAT) teams to surveillance and air support for ground operations. This rotorcraft also is well suited for search and rescue missions.

With the largest cabin and lift capacity in its class, the H155 can transport police units of up to 12 members to the incident area. Equipment can easily be loaded into the large baggage compartment. The H155 offers unmatched visibility and a discrete sound level for effective surveillance operations.

Its state-of-the-art glass cockpit is compatible with night-vision goggles, which makes it fully available night and day. The 4-axis automatic flight control system maximises the pilot’s effectiveness for highly demanding missions.

Mission equipment includes a moving map display, an electrical hoist and rappelling system, cargo sling with electrical external mirrors, an electro-optical day and infrared cameras and external loud speakers.

Emergency medical services

The H155 is a highly capable air ambulance that offers high speed, long range, accessibility and safety.

Its large, unobstructed cabin has sufficient space for multiple patients, medical personnel and their equipment – accommodating up to 2 stretchers with 4 seats for medical crews. Extra-wide sliding doors and full-length boarding steps make loading rapid and smooth.

The high-set main rotor and tail rotor allow for safe ground operations, even while the rotors are turning, while the low vibration and noise levels ensure the best ride for patients.
