Donbas rebels still hold 300 Ukraine army servicemen and civilians prisoners

The number of prisoners kept by Donbas rebels is about 300, including both servicemen and about 60 civilians, Yury Tandit, negotiator of the SBU center for the release of POW, said May 1, speaking on Kanak 5 TV.

“The actual number can be even higher as many are still missing,” he explained.

Some POWs have been taken to Russia where Russian secret services are trying to recruit them.

“Despite our persistent efforts to get all POW exchanged or released, Donbas rebels are in no hurry - in violation of the Minsk agreements,” Tandit said.
