Ryan Fischer was ambushed outside his home on West Hollywood's Sierra Bonita Avenue as he walked Gaga's dogs Koji, Miss Asia, and Gustav just before 10pm yesterday. Surveillance footage captured from a neighbor's home shows a white sedan pulling up alongside the 30-year-old, and two attackers, dressed in dark clothing, climbing out of the back seat. One of them is heard cocking a pistol as they storm towards Fischer, warning him to 'give it up'. Fischer is heard crying out 'no' and shrieking out in horror for someone to help him as he attempts to fend off the assailants, as they appear to be grappling with him over the dogs on the ground. 'Koji, no!' Fischer cries as one of the attackers pulls him away from the sedan and towards the sidewalk. A single gunshot is then heard, and Fischer can be heard screaming. Meanwhile, the two attackers pile into the backseat of the sedan, holding two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav. One of the dogs can be heard yelping and growling as its taken, while Miss Asia is seen running back to Fischer who is lying on the ground.

Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman spoke about continued threats to the Capitol at a security hearing Thursday where the new House security chief warned of intelligence failures. Acting Sergeant at Arms Henry Blodgett told a House Appropriations subcommittee there was a 'failure to either gather, synthesize, or disseminate intelligence' leading up to the Jan. 6 riot. Lawmakers at the hearing blasted failures to adapt as well as the apparent chaos of leadership and communication that unfolded on Jan. 6.

A former US women's gymnastics coach with ties to disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar who was charged in Michigan on Thursday with two dozen crimes has died by suicide, according to local reports. John Geddert took his own life with a gun just hours after he was brought up on two dozen charges including sexual assault, human trafficking and running a criminal enterprise, WLNS-TV reported. Geddert's suicide was confirmed by the office of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, according to NBC 25 News. Geddert was head coach of the 2012 US women's Olympic gymnastics team, which won a gold medal. Nassar was the team's doctor and also treated injured gymnasts at Twistars, Geddert's Lansing-area gym for elite athletes. Geddert, 63, is accused of injuring people for years through forced labor and recruiting minors for forced labor, according to documents filed in an Eaton County court, near Lansing. In July 2019, Sara Teristi, who met Nassar as a young teen in Michigan in late 1988, came forward in a bombshell TIME excerpt from Abigail Pesta's book The Girls: An All-American Town, a Predatory Doctor, and the Untold Story of the Gymnasts Who Brought Him Down, implicating Geddert. Teristi (seen bottom left inset as a teen and bottom right inset in a 2019 photo) says Geddert saw some of the abuse that took place when she was in her teens but failed to act, instead maintaining a close personal and professional relationship with the soft-spoken doctor over several decades. It is not known for certain whether Teristi went to law enforcement with her allegations.

The Equality Act passed the House of Representatives Thursday with full Democratic support, but with only three Republicans signing on. The bill enshrines LGBTQ protections in the nation's labor and civil rights laws, a top priority for President Joe Biden. The vote was 224 for the bill and 206 against. Among the Republicans who bucked their party were Reps. John Katko and Tom Reed of New York and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania (above). When the Equality Act passed the last Congress in May 2019, eight Republicans joined their Democratic colleagues. Two current members - Reps. Elise Stefanik of New York and Mario Díaz-Balart of Florida - switched their yes votes to no. Three other Republicans who had voted in the affirmative in 2019 are no longer in Congress. The Equality Act amends existing civil rights law to explicitly include sexual orientation and gender identification as protected characteristics. The protections would extend to employment, housing, loan applications, education, public accommodations and other areas. Supporters say the law before the House on Thursday is long overdue and would ensure that every person is treated equally under the law.

One of the first things Biden did after taking office was sign Executive Order 13988 which demands that measures be taken to 'prevent and combat discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.' This sounds perfectly reasonable until you get into the weeds of the order and discover that among various recommendations, it seeks to allow transgender athletes to compete according to their gender identity, as opposed to their biological sex. Specifically, it says that transgender women who have gone through male puberty should be able to compete in women's sports. This, I'm afraid, is utter madness. The majority of trans women born to male biological bodies who've gone through puberty are self-evidently going to be bigger, stronger, faster and more powerful than women born to female biological bodies. Again, this is not me being 'transphobic', it's me stating an obvious fact. Marjorie Taylor Greene put up a sign outside her office proclaiming 'there are TWO genders' after her congressional hall mate Marie Newman, who has a trans daughter, put up a trans pride flag outside her office as the two publicly feud over legislation bolstering trans rights. 'Our neighbor, [Marjorie Taylor Greene], tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is 'disgusting, immoral, and evil,' Rep. Newman tweeted. 'Thought we'd put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door,' she continued including a winking face and transgender flag emoji.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday night he would 'absolutely' back former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race if he was the nominee of the Republican Party. McConnell, who Trump referred to earlier this month as an 'dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack,' was interviewed by Fox News Channel's Bret Baier, who asked the Kentucky Republican if he believed Trump would win the party's nomination in three years.

El Chapo's beauty queen wife reportedly turned herself in when she arrived in Washington, DC, on Monday in a sign that she could turn on the Sinaola Cartel. US officials could be looking for Emma Coronel Aispuro (left and top right), 31, to help take down her husband Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán's (bottom right) operation, the Sinaloa cartel. On Monday, authorities said Coronel was arrested at Dulles Airport in DC, and charged with drug trafficking after an informant accused her of masterminding Guzman's Hollywood-style escape from a Mexico prison in 2015. However, according to Vice , sources claimed that she actually turned herself in and was prepared to face the charges against her when she landed in DC. The sources, who spoke to the news outlet on the condition anonymity, suggested that Coronel's surrender could signal a cooperation agreement. That could mean she may provide information or testimony in exchange for leniency in her case. Coronel and Guzman, who is more than three decades her senior, tied the knot when she was 18 in 2007 and went on to spend the majority of their married life with Guzman either in jail or on the run as one of the world's top drug lords. When Guzman finally went on trial in 2019, Coronel stepped into the spotlight, attending court in designer outfits with their two twin daughters in a show of loyalty. Coronel had refused to cooperate with investigators and turn on her husband - who was easily convicted anyway and sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.

Both Meghan McCain and Re. Nicole Malliotakis had harsh words fro Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but they were joined by MeToo CEO Tina Tchen in calls for an investigation into his sexual assault allegations. In an essay published to Medium Wednesday, Lindsey Boylan - who worked as a special advisor to Cuomo in 2018 - charged that the Governor asked her to play strip poker and kissed on the lips without her permission. Cuomo has denied the allegations.

The coronavirus variant, known as B.1.427/B.1.429 - also sometimes called CAL.20C/L452R - first emerged in California in May 2020 (top right). Experts predict that the variant, which spreads as easily as those from the UK (bottom right).and South Africa, will make up 90% of state cases by March. One study says it may be 11 times more infectious, but there were only 12 cases of death in the California variant group, suggesting that more data is needed. The variant appears to evade vaccines but not as much as the variant from South Africa does. Cases of the variant has been found in other states, such as Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Colorado, Nevada and Oregon, but it has only surged in California.

In a video call with NHS officials in charge of the rollout, Her Majesty (pictured left on the call) encouraged those with doubts to 'think about other people rather than themselves'. The 94-year-old monarch (pictured right, leaving hospital in 2013) said her jab last month 'didn't hurt at all' and had made her 'feel protected'. Likening Covid to a plague, she said it was remarkable how quickly the inoculation programme had been put into action, helping 'so many people'. A senior royal source said: 'It is a passionately held belief that people need to get out there [and get vaccinated] - this is important.' It is highly unusual for the sovereign to take such a firm public stand on contentious issues and her remarks will be seen as a victory for efforts to increase take-up. An NHS vaccine chief said it was an 'incredibly important vote of confidence' in the programme.

British news outlet Bellingcat published video (left) purportedly showing MAGA rioter Riley June Williams (top right) performing a Nazi salute and expressing support for Adolf Hitler on Wednesday. It's unclear when the video was recorded, but Bellingcat said it received it from an anonymous Antifa activist who identified the woman as Williams. Williams' lawyer, A.J. Kramer, appeared to confirm the video's authenticity, telling NBC News that it was meant as a 'joke' intended to mock Nazis. Williams, 22, is currently out on bail awaiting trial on charges related to her involvement in the January 6 Capitol insurrection (bottom right).

Sylvia Quayle, 34, from Cherry Hills near Denver was murdered in August 1981. A man was jailed for her murder but his confession was later found unreliable. In 2000, DNA from the murder scene was sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. A match was finally found in May 2020 with David Anderson, 62, of Nebraska. Small Cherry Hill police then sent the DNA on to a genetic genealogy company. This January and investigator headed to Nebraska where Anderson was living and took DNA samples from his trash including a Vanilla Coke can to confirm the match. The DNA matched and Anderson has been charged with first-degree murder.

The trained MMA fighter who got into a bar fight with an Oklahoma Sooners football player said he was only defending himself as he raises funds to pay for his legal fees and medical costs. Walker Brown (top right) was seen in the viral video attacking wide receiver and place-kick holder Spencer Jones (bottom right) in the brawl which nearly caused the football player to lose his eye. The fight in the bathroom of Logies on the Corner, a bar near the Sooners' football stadium, saw Brown, a junior at the school who is a trained wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter, land a number of punches on Jones.

The woman crashed into a South Beach storefront just after midnight on Tuesday after losing control of her Dodge Charger, narrowly missing a homeless woman. Shattered glass from the store window was shattered over the sidewalk and the front of the Dodge was completely crumpled from the crash. The driver then ordered a taxi and took a suitcase to the awaiting car, fleeing the scene before she was tracked down by police and arrested.

Last week, Gwyneth revealed that she has been suffering from long COVID since contracting the virus early in the pandemic. In the latest episode of the Dear Media podcast The Art of Being Well, the 48-year-old spoke with her functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole. She said she used to just 'eat really well for a couple of days [and] exercise a lot' and could easily shed extra pounds. It's been harder in recent years due to perimenopause, but she thinks it's been especially difficult in the past year since having COVID. Gwyneth also professed to be suffering from 'brain fog' but hopes her new diet will help.

NASA gave Earth a tour of Mars using using the high resolution 360-degree panorama Perseverance sent back from the Red Planet, which revealed interesting formations on teh Martian surface. The stunning panorama was created using the rovers Master Camera that relied on 5,000 commands parameters to shoot a total of 142 images that were beamed back to Earth where NASA stitched them together. NASA stitched it together tile by tile in a circular formation starting with the horizon and ending with the rover. When zooming in on areas, you can see the 'harbor seal' rock (top right) that has been eroded by winds for billions of years and remnants (bottom right) of the Jezero Crater basin that Perseverance will soon explore.

TikTok user @randomhomelessguy2, who is believed to live in the U.S., has racked up more than 290,000 followers after posting a video of himself cooking. In his first-ever video, he made himself pasta with cut-up hotdogs using a $15 hot plate from Walmart and a $3 pot from the 99 cents store. He explained that he gets his water from a public fountain and uses an open electrical outlet that he found at a park. The viral video has been viewed more than 9.4 million times, and fans were blown away by his resourcefulness and positive attitude.

The 72-year-old film star broke his silence on Thursday after Paris prosecutors confirmed he faced trial and prison for the attacks allegedly carried out in 2018. 'There is no proof, there is nothing against me and therefore I am very serene,' Depardieu said in an interview in Italy's La Repubblica. 'I can only reject all the accusations as clearly as possible, as I've already done in front of the investigators.' MyHeritage, which is known for genealogical products and services like saliva testing kits, presents a weird online tool that animates old photos of deceased family members. Examples provided by MyHeritage also show historical figures, including Queen Victoria, Mark Twain and Florence Nightingale, come to life. Anyone can use the tool on the Deep Nostalgia webpage by uploading or drag-and-dropping an image - although to see the results you'll need a MyHeritage account.

An 18-year-old video gamer was arrested in Brazil after he turned himself in at a police precinct and acknowledged he murdered a 19-year-old female rival while they played Call of Duty at his home. Brazilian news outlet R7 reported that Guilherme Alves made the shocking admission about a half-hour after he assassinated Ingrid Oliveira at his home and uploaded a video of the gruesome act on social media on Monday. Alves, who can be seen smiling in a video after he was handcuffed by cops outside the station house in the northern São Paulo city of Pirituba.

A resurfaced interview between Oprah Winfrey and twin actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen is facing a furious backlash over the TV legend's asking the teen actresses: 'What size are you?' The twins were 17 at the time of the interview, which was filmed in 2004 - amid rumours that Mary-Kate was suffering with an eating disorder. The interview sees Oprah address the issue point-blank, saying: 'I know a new rumour [that's] recently surfaced has really upset you, right?' Later that year, Mary-Kate (pictured inset with Ashley in 2004) checked into a rehab facility to receive treatment for what was later revealed to be a battle with anorexia.

Pilot Josh Redsun and his father were headed home to Napa but the plane lost power almost immediately after taking off and Mr Redsun was forced to land in Livermore near the 580 on Isabel Avenue at 5.10 on Tuesday evening. Mr Redsun said the four-seater plane was able to climb about 500 feet before it started losing altitude. The quick-thinking pilot decided to use the highway overpass as a runway to land the single-engine propeller plane. Mr Redsun said that the plane started skidding and ended up on its side after hitting the white sedan.

 A male customer who was with a woman and waiting to be served at a restaurant in Mexico opened fire and struck one of two armed suspects who attempted to mug him, shocking surveillance video shows. The suspects were seen in the footage approaching the man moments after he had sat down at a sidewalk table set up outside Midam Korean barbecue restaurant in the Mexico City neighborhood of Lomas de Chaputelpec at 5pm on Sunday. The muggers surrounded the man and reportedly ordered him to give up his cellphone and watch.

Incredible colourised photos have brought new life to old love stories, including a couple who got married on a horse in 1902 and rare mixed race marriage in the 1960s.  Ancestry website MyHeritage, who recently released photo colour restoration feature, launched a competition to find the best pictures and stories from their members for their #LoveInFullColor campaign. The competition resulted in dozens of incredible entries with stories from all over the world. Here, FEMAIL looks at the best shots and sweetest tales.

Tolkien adds that the small characters, such as Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee (pictured, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin in the 2002 film The Two Towers), should be 'absolutely ordinary human beings' and 'not too childlike'. The two page handwritten letter is going under the hammer with auctioneers Hermitage Fine Art in Monte Carlo tomorrow, and is expected to sell for £15,000.

A baby chimp rescue, a leopard on the prowl, Norway's epic coastline and the touching bond between a beluga whale and a fisherman. These are some of the subjects in images taken by photographers who have been given 'finalist' and 'shortlisted' status in the professional category of the 2021 Sony World Photography Awards.The photographers who took them are clearly at the very top of their game, having been picked out from more than 145,000 pictures entered into the professional competition's 10 categories.

WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT: A video has captured the devastating moment a baby hippo is attacked and drowned by an adult male. In a shocking attack, the four-thousand-pound bull sinks his teeth into the infant before holding it down beneath the water's surface. The footage shows the male hippo swinging the baby around violently as the bloodied calf thrashes between its teeth. Other hippos stand nearby as the child takes its final breath before sinking beneath the water. It took the 14-foot-long bull, which was at least six years old, just two minutes to kill the tiny baby.

A trio of colleagues have revealed how they started a 'casual throuple' because they are 'so horny' they always end up sleeping together.  Bishop Black, 36, from London, Lina Bembe, 28, from Mexico, and Carmen Canela, 26, from Spain all met at work and live in Berlin. 'First and foremost, we're dear friends,' Lina said. 'But we are also horny and it just more or less transpires that way.'Just like other couples, the trio enjoy date nights out at restaurants and also enjoy cooking meals at home, but they don't live together nor do they plan to any time soon. The toddler, known only as Ella, was filmed by her mother in the US as she expertly jumps from the floor and uses the refrigerator handles to haul herself up. She lodges one of her feet in the water and ice dispenser while scrabbling with her hands to get a higher grip on the door handles. Once she is up she manages to stick her other foot through the right door handle, allowing her to stand up straight. Ella is then able to easily reach up above the refrigerator to open the cupboard above it and search for her favourite snack.

Furniture brand Koala has unveiled a new sofa made from a very unlikely material. And while it's not usually the material that springs to mind when buying a couch, the company has launched Australia's first sofa made entirely from cork trees. The cork material, commonly found on pin boards and the top of wine bottles, has been transformed into a unique three seater sofa that sets it apart from just about every other couch on the market.
