Renewal for current members opens on 1 February and runs through to 31 March. If you renew during this period you will be charged the annual membership fee for the full year.

If you renew after this period you may be asked to provide a reason for the delay, supported by your supervising solicitor, or if it is a significant period then your request to renew may be passed to the Accredited Paralegal Committee for their approval.

How do I renew?

All you need to do is pay the invoice we will have emailed to you, quoting the unique reference code on your invoice.

What happens after I renew?

You will receive your accredited paralegal certificate, Scottish Paralegal Association certificate and guidance notes for your supervising solicitor.  These will be emailed to you within 21 days of receipt of your payment.

Why is my name not appearing on Find an Accredited Paralegal?

Find an Accredited Paralegal is frozen as at 1 February to allow for renewals to take place.  When your renewal is completed and your certificates are issued, your name will automatically be added back to this function and anyone looking for you will be able to search and find you.

If your name does not appear after your payment has been made please let us know so we can review and resolve the issue.

What happens if I have any problems renewing?

If you experience any issues with your renewal or you haven’t received your certificates within the period above please do not hesitate to contact: [email protected]

What if I don’t renew or I am late renewing?

If you have not renewed by 1 April, you cannot continue to call yourself a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Paralegal nor can you use our logo on any sign off or business cards until you have renewed.

If you do not wish to renew or there is a change in your circumstances please contact us at [email protected]. This will also ensure that you do not receive any reminder emails.
