Our Rights of Audience training courses are designed to provide candidates with information and instruction to assist and assess them in relation to the evidence, procedure and pleadings relevant to proceedings in the Court in which they are seeking extended rights of audience. Successful completion of the relevant course fulfills the relevant requirement under S25A Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980 to complete a course of training.
The course will be held remotely and includes various talks and tutorial from the bench, the bar and experienced solicitor advocates. The structure of the courses for civil and criminal rights of audience differ and take place at different times of the year (usually at weekends), with civil usually between January and April and criminal usually during May, June and July.
Please note that prior to applying for admission to a course of training, applicants require to complete the mandatory Introductory Course. Applications will thereafter be sifted to determine whether an applicant can be admitted as a candidate on the relevant course of training

Process of obtaining extended rights of audience
The course fees for both the criminal and civil course of training is £3000+VAT. Payment is required in one lump sum prior to the course commencing via credit or debit card, or through invoice. Alternatively you can post a cheque for the full amount made payable to the Law Society of Scotland.
