Language is the key to any culture, but there are many other ways to truly understand a culture as well. This is why we’ve created the Chai and Conversation blog, complete with posts and videos to help you better understand the Iranian culture.
One of the most exciting parts of Chai and Conversation is our mailing list (who’s ever said that before?). Sign up, and you’ll receive weekly emails that will motivate, inspire, and encourage you on your Persian language learning journey.
My father-in-law is Iranian. He didn't teach his sons Persian, but now he is married to an Iranian woman and they speak it all the time. I want to understand what is being said at all the dinner parties! My husband and I tried Rosetta Stone but were not impressed. Your podcasts have been great!
Your podcasts and bonus materials have helped me so much and I am only on Unit 2! I finally feel like I can begin speaking this language and understanding it instead of just crying and feeling like I am never going to learn. I had been trying with Rosetta Stone before I found you guys and it was frustrating because Rosetta Stone is mostly written Persian which is why I still couldn't understand what was being said when his family would talk. Please don't stop making these lessons because they are helping me a lot!
I have taken Farsi lessons over the years, and tried Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur. With each program or class, I learn a bit more, and at this point I know enough to "get by" when we are in Iran, or when my in-laws visit. I can even read and write a little. I stumbled across "Chai and Conversation," while looking online for books for my kids. I think it is great - very helpful. Thank you for this wonderful resource! Dast-e Shoma, Leyla khanoom, and ghorbonnet shoma!
I am committed to learn Persian and have really enjoyed the system you have developed. I began using a Pimsleur method but I feel yours is superior. Thanks and I Am looking forward to more from Chai and Conversation.
I find your website better than the Pimsleur CD I have and all the other methods of learning Farsi are formal and focus on the written alphabet which is ok but doesn't really help me to grasp Farsi words I can use. I like that you spell out and pronounce in a way that makes it understandable when I use a new word with my now fiancée in Tehran.
I'm so glad that you produce the podcast, which is perfect for me since I already like listening to podcasts and audiobooks. And you're completely right, there are so few verbal Farsi-learning options out there. I also have a Pimsleur course, but it's so formal.
