Meeting planned to discuss 2020 road, sidewalk construction in DeWitt

Clinton County Road Commission, DeWitt Township and the City of DeWitt are holding a meeting Nov. 13 for the public to discuss and explain plans for the road and sidewalk construction set to begin next year. The construction will be a significant undertaking, affecting residents who live in areas around major roads like Airport Road, Herbison Road and Coleman Road, among others. Construction will also affect three major bridges in the DeWitt area. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, as the meeting is focused on “informing the public in regards to the timing of each one of those projects,” said Brett Wittenberg, the community development director of DeWitt Charter Township.

For DeWitt Township Clerk Diane Mosier, the people keep her coming back

As Diane Mosier heads into her 29th year as DeWitt Charter Township clerk, she says it’s the people that keep her coming back. “I love the community, I’ve lived here my whole life, I was born here, I never left,” said Mosier. “I love serving the people here, it’s a great community, the staff is fabulous, and it’s never dull, there’s always someway you can help someone.”

She is currently the longest serving elected official in the township. Mosier got started in civil service at the township in 1990 when she was appointed as clerk and then was elected to the position during the same year. She’s held the role ever since.

Dog park conversation heating up in DeWitt

DEWITT — DeWitt is in the process of looking into adding a dog park to the city and the township. The project is mostly citizen-run, but local officials are reviewing comments from the public and working on leasing agreements. “It is a community-driven project, so there is a group of citizens that have been working with the township and the city,” said Rodney Taylor, DeWitt Charter Township manager. The dog park would be located at the front end of the Southern Clinton County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCCMUA) building on Herbison Road. The land for the park is not being utilized right now.
