    Diletant (ISSN 2226-6887) is a popular Russian monthly established in 2012 by the well-known Russian opposition journalist Alexander Venediktov (Radio Echo of Moscow). The magazine offers a signature mix of richly illustrated, entertaining, yet at the same time serious commentary on important historical events and personalities. The magazine’s mission to bring to readers the finest writing on a variety of historical topics by acclaimed contemporary historians and cultural figures (Dmitry Bykov, Andrei Bilzho, Andrei Makarevich, Aleksandr Kibovsky and others) has made Diletant into one of the most influential publications among the Russian intelligentsia, and certainly one of the most popular.
