‘People have spoken, they must go’

The people have spoken and they want the FijiFirst party out. These are the words of Talei Qarase Bormon, the granddaughter of former prime minister and founder of the Social Democratic Party (SODELPA), Laisenia Qarase .

Mrs Bormon said SODELPA now “held the balance of power” and the party should not be in any discussions with FF.

“The people have spoken and 58 per cent of the voters want FijiFirst out and if my late tua was around, I know for a fact that this would not even have crossed his mind,” she said.

“Our country has been ruled by the FFP regime for 16 years. “The people have spoken, they want FijiFirst out.”

She says the party needs to compromise for the greater good and needed to act and bring about the change immediately.

“I personally wish the party my tua founded had better results in this election, but the fact is, we did not, but we made the 5 per cent threshold. It is not the end for SODELPA, I see better and brighter days.

“But, where we are right now we must compromise for the greater good and I think if my tua was here, he would do exactly that. All differences aside, my tua would lead SODELPA to make the best and right choice for Fiji and that is to go into coalition with the People’s Alliance and NFP immediately.”
