PRESIDENT of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, the Reverend Ili Vunisuwai, has called on the public to wait patiently, and calmly while politicians do play their part.

Speaking to this paper he said he saw no reason why the military should be called in to assist the police.

“I do not see any civil unrest happening in our country that would warrant the military being called to assist police,” Mr Vunisuwai said yesterday.

“The people are only listening and waiting for the decision to be made regarding who will lead our nation.

“There is no unrest happening here.” He said he was happy that people of this nation have done their part by voting during polling day and that now it was up to the politicians to do their part.

“We have spoken through our votes and that’s where we end.

“Now it’s up to the politicians. “Whatever complications they make because of the decisions they made, that is theirs.

“I am just happy that the people have voted and they have made their voice heard at the voting venue.

“Now we will just wait for their voice to be heard and seen in the selection of the government to lead us into the next four years.”

Mr Vunisuwai called on the people to protect, love, accept and forgive each other and to be patient.
