2022 General Election: Transition is good for Fiji – Prof Biman

Minister for Finance and National Federation Party leader Prof Biman Prasad says the transition to a new government is good for our country and democracy.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony yesterday, he said his plan was to work with everyone.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the prime minister for accepting the outcome of the elections today in Parliament,” Mr Prasad said.

“I want to also thank my predecessor Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for his work with the Ministry of Economy now Finance.

“As I said, for me, all the disagreements in Parliament on policies was always about bigger good; it was never about personality; it was never about an individual.

“What I plan to do in my ministry is to work with everyone, unite the country in terms of policy direction.

“My message to the business community and everyone in the country is that this transition to a new government is going to be good for the country.”

He said he would work towards policies that were inclusive.

“So that is the message that I can give to the people of Fiji and also I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”
