As we continue to grow, the Marketing, Communications and Events division is seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Public Relations & Communications Manager to join the team to manage publicity campaigns and external communications that further build APRA AMCOS’ profile, influence and support of its members. This is a permanent full time opportunity preferably in Sydney, however candidates from outside of Sydney will be considered.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, Membership, the Publicity & Communications Manager will work closely with multiple senior stakeholders to develop, strategise and activate end-to-end publicity campaigns that deliver strategic communication to APRA AMCOS members, key stakeholders in government and business, media, music industry, and, more broadly, the general public in a creative, clear, impactful and engaging way.

Your primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Media Relations: Develop and nurture strong relationships with media powerhouses across all mediums to secure positive coverage. Formulate, write, build and distribute media releases, pitch and build profiles of key spokespeople/talent with media outlets across TV, print, radio, online and social globally
  • Content Strategy: Curate captivating content in line with the APRA AMCOS brand for media releases, social media platforms and articles in collaboration with the Content Producer and Senior Content Manager.
  • Event Publicity: Enhance public profile and plan, manage, and implement national and international publicity campaigns for APRA AMCOS’ three annual awards events: APRA Music Awards, Art Music Awards and Screen Music Awards.
  • Internal Stakeholder Management: Collaborate seamlessly with senior executives and internal teams on end-to-end media campaigns and enquiries.
  • Brand Management: Grow the APRA AMCOS brand public profile and reputation in line with the organisations’s long-term strategy through consistent messaging and communication efforts.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in public relations and communications
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with attention to detail
  • Proven track record working at an advanced level with key stakeholders and media
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while focusing on work quality
  • Experience in turning ideas and plans into successfully implemented actions
  • Agility to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think strategically and be hands on at the same time
