Aaron Rodgers is on vacation overseas, claims Colin Cowherd after Jets QB skipped minicamp this week

FS1's Colin Cowherd reported that the reason behind Aaron Rodgers' absence from mandatory minicamp is a vacation overseas.

On Tuesday, Jets coach Robert Saleh revealed that while Rodgers gave notice ahead of his absence for an 'event', he will still be facing fines per the NFL collective bargaining agreement.

One day later, Cowher went on his program 'The Herd' and shared information regarding Rodgers' whereabouts.

'Why BS? An event?' Cowherd opened. 'I was told last night, from a source I trust, Aaron's on vacation, and it's overseas.'

'Don't be surprised,' he continued. "This is sort of what you would expect. Impulsive owner, new GM, coach with a losing record, prickly, older, at times arrogant, disconnected quarterback, in New York City, with a pretty relentless and inarguably massive press core.'

Colin Cowherd reported that Aaron Rodgers is on vacation overseas after missing minicamp

'This is what you get,' Cowherd suggested.

Rodgers was not the only player from the Jets to miss the minicamp, as Haason Reddick also had an unexcused absence.

After suggesting that the quarterback's trip is for leisure, Cowherd noted that more details about Rodgers' getaway will come out soon.

'I'm told you'll learn about where he's at tomorrow,' he said. 'I don't wanna burn my source [but] I'm told you'll learn about it tomorrow.'

'Maybe he is at an event. [I] Can't believe there's something overseas that would take seven, eight, nine days... Again, maybe they have a music festival.'

On Tuesday, Jets coach Robert Saleh reported that Rodgers was absent due to an 'event'

Rodgers' absence was labelled 'unexcused' and he is expected to by fined, per the CBA

When Cowherd dished the question to co-host, analyst, and Jets fan Jason McIntyre, he suggested that Rodgers may be at another darkness retreat.

The veteran quarterback has been known for spending offseasons participating in the unusual practice, and McIntyre suggested that the facility just opened up.

'If he were in Europe, somebody would see him,' McIntyre said. 'I wonder, Colin, did he get another darkness retreat on the books? And that's why there's been no reports [and] nobody's seen him anywhere.'

Rodgers is returning for his second season in New York after tearing his Achilles last year

'The treehouse he goes into for the darkness retreats opened up and said: 'Hey, this is your time, you paid for it, you gotta go.' That counts as an event, right?'

'I was told he's overseas,' Cowherd replied. 'And I was told tomorrow people will find out where he was overseas. Is he still there? Did he come back to the country? [Why] Did Saleh have to say 'unexcused absence'? Don't you just keep that to yourself? Isn't that just poking Aaron?'

Rodgers is yet to play an entire game for the Jets after tearing his Achilles in his debut last season. After scrambling their other quarterback options, the Jets finished the season with a 7-10 record.
