A lot of my friends have backslid–understandably–into despairposting and doomreblogging about this, so I want to give you something a bit different: the UK does not like these rioting racist twats and is prepared to say so loudly and with force.

please don’t reblog posts that are “EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE” unless they contain some way for the people reading them to take action–whether it’s gofundmes, or letter templates for MPs, petition links, etc. “LOOK AT THE BAD THING” is for the newspapers. we are not the newspapers, we are the people trying to fix the fucking mess they’ve made.

dear people with OCD: the next time you have spiraling & intrusive thoughts, what-ifs, or catastrophizing scenarios, I am sending a cardigan-wearing 46-year old NYU professor directly into your brain and he says “Aaaaand scene!!!” and he claps his hands slowly. and he says “Wow. Wow. Powerful stuff. Evocative imagery. A little bit post-modern, a little bit hysterical realism in the vein of Don Delilo but let’s pause right here.” and you will recognize your thoughts as a perplexing avant-garde film shown to an audience of 15 liberal arts students who are now trying to get a good grade and sleep with their professor.

image

I almost posted this without the professor-fucking part but I decided that it is in fact crucial to combating OCD. sometimes you have to fight fire with fire i.e. spiraling thoughts with strong negative emotions get countered with strongly emotive surprise, cringe, and humor

sometimes the OCD brain can’t just be stopped from fantasizing completely, but you can redirect that anxious mental energy toward crafting a fictional setup and story that doesn’t involve you or your fears at all

another thing I do is interrupt intrusive thoughts with a very conscious and deliberate “and then an elephant walks in.” and I’d make myself commit to the bit. it would force me to reframe everything and specifically understand it in an absurdist context, make me confront how ridiculous the initial thoughts even were, and there is honestly no way to keep being serious and distraught about your what-if scenarios when you’ve introduced a fucking elephant into the mix. film studies professor is also that elephant.

so it goes from scary thoughts about my life -> step back. this is a weird fictional film now. -> characters are analyzing the film -> those characters are super messy and have their own problems, and I’m watching them now and eating popcorn at this soap opera

Thank you everyone for reading and sharing my pinned post. Hate mail went from 50+ per hour to 0! Back to writing prompts soon <3

You harassed a Gazan genocide survivor off of Tumblr (he’s had his account for over a decade, and on it, he’s documented the horrific losses his family has suffered even before October 7th), doubled down on accusing all GFMs vetted by Palestinians on Tumblr of being part of an organized scam ring by hyperfocusing on the one GFM on that list that’s sketchy (no regard, of course, to how this might effect the hundreds of other families trying to survive a genocide), quietly deleted all evidence of yourself being racist to the genocide survivor you fueled a harassment campaign against, never apologized for any of this, and now, after you’ve gotten to play the victim for a bit, you’re doing a victory lap and celebrating the harm you’ve done.

But before you go back to your regular scheduling of stealing posts from Reddit and pretending they’re your own, I think you’re followers should know what the backlash against you is about.

Here’s screenshots and a links to the posts you’ve quietly deleted:

NOTE: The person sending this ask is Mahmoud Balousha, a Palestinian refugee currently residing outside of the country. He’s organizing several GFMs on behalf of his family, and is very much a real person.

Here’s a post from his Palestinian friend (another long-time Tumblr user), with a reply from one of the people who has been in daily contact with Mahmoud and helped him set up a fundraiser.

Anyway, here’s how writing-prompt-s decided to reply to Mahmoud’s plea for help:

I’ll repost my own reply here, since you never acknowledged it, and never apologized to Ahmed (90-ghost):

This is really not my story to tell. It feels very uncomfortable to shared Ahmed’s history like this, and to see how he’s been forced to be this public about his loss and trauma in order to be believed (and then to see you, still doubting him!).

Ahmed is now trying to adjust to a life in Egypt, still has most of his friends and family in Gaza, and is struggling just to cover his own living expenses in the city he’s now a displaced refugee in.

The fact that you, from the safety of your home (Ahmed’s has been turned to rubble by Israeli bombs), felt so comfortable dragging him and other Palestinians through the mud like this is despicable.

And you can read yourself from @/Killy, the person who initiated Ahmed’s fundraiser when he was still in Gaza, the horrible effect this harassment campaign you’ve started has had on him:

image

Do you have any fucking conscience at all?

You never responded to any of this, and I know for a fact that you at least saw my reply, because shortly after, you made a new post doubling down where you tried to imply Ahmed had faked his entire blogging history:

image

And again, my reply, which you also didn’t respond to:

You’ve done real, material harm to the Palestinians you’re dragging through this. And I think you’re very well aware of that, you just don’t care and you never will.

Here’s the donation links again:

Ahmed (90-ghost) and Mahmoud

And lastly, if you want to accuse me of contributing to spreading scams, that’s fine. My conscience is clear. I’d rather take the risk of accidentally promoting a scam (and I’ve seen no evidence that I have so far done so) than keep silent and deny help to people desperately trying to survive a genocide.

kahin:

In light of recent events with White people yet again being racist against Palestinians and purposely spreading what should be considered disinformation at this point, and given my relatively large following on here, I would like to spotlight four campaigns:

The first I would like to spotlight is the Ostaz family, whose fundraiser has been low on funds ever since the creation of it in January. Ahmed Al Ostaz has reached out to me numerous times since around May or July, and it breaks my heart into pieces when I check back on his campaign, and it’s still stagnating. Their fundraiser is vetted, number 125 on the el-shab-hussein and nabulsi’s fundraiser spreadsheet. 15,871/70,000 EUR raised.

The second is Abdullah Ameen’s family, whose campaign has around 200 donations and was created back in April. It’s still quite low on its goal, with 5,066/30,000 EUR raised. Number 134 on the spreadsheet linked above.

The third is a campaign for Doaa’s family, who are trapped in Khan Yunis. Funds are to evacuate each member of her family, her sisters and their husbands and children. They are all living in inhospitable conditions and some need urgent medical care. 1,930/65,000 USD raised. Vetted by 90-ghost.

The fourth and last campaign I am going to highlight is Mahmoud Nedal’s family. There are 6 family members to be evacuated, the campaign was created back in March, and is low on funds. 123 on the spreadsheet. 3,089/50,000 USD raised.

Donate if you have the money to, and share/reblog as much as you can if you do not! These are urgent! No excuses.
