Madaripur is a town in Dhaka division in south-central Bangladesh. It is the headquarters of Madaripur District. It is named for Shah Madar, a Sufi saint who spread Islam in the region.

According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Madaripur had 14,112 households and a population of 62,690. 12,668 (20.21%) were under 10 years of age. Madaripur had a literacy rate (age 7 and over) of 73.09%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 1018 females per 1000 males.[2][1]
