Carl Nathe's Top 3 UK Football Moments in Commonwealth Stadium
Transcription
Just to be perfectly candid there are three highlights, but number one, for me, was the play when Stevie Johnson caught the touchdown in the closing moments against Louisville in 2007, and we won that game. Louisville's a big rival. I respect the University of Louisville, however, we had lost to them four straight years. There was a lot of pent up frustration, anxiety, disappointment, you name it, fans can relate. Probably my second favorite game of all time is that same season, 2007. LSU came in heavily favored. The were ranked number one in the country, and Kentucky wasn't supposed to have a chance, and we ended up taking them into overtime, several overtimes, we win 43-37. We are on national television with that game. Probably my third favorite game was in my first year doing the public address announcing at the football games and that was in 1997. We played Alabama and upset them, and it was the first time, I believe, that we had beaten Alabama in something like seventy-five years. So, again, that was a special moment. Before they had the collapsible goal posts, the fans jumped on the goal post, all that stuff, that was definitely a goal post game, but there have been some great moments.
