Wes Anderson and Hugh Guinness took the Original Screenplay honor tonight for The Grand Budapest Hotel at the WGA Awards and Graham Moore took Adapted Screenplay for The Imitation Game. Said Anderson from the LA ceremony, “I wrote the script with my old friend Hugo who joined the alternative branch on the East Coast. He is probably simultaneously giving a speech over there. A humble Graham Moore said on accepting his adapted screenplay honor, “We made this movie for Alan Turing. I’m a screenwriter from Chicago. So standing here on stage, I should thank him. It’s on his shoulders of his genius that we made this film.”
On the TV side, HBO’s True Detective won both New Series and Drama Series, and FX’s Louie, nabbed both the Comedy Series and Episodic Comedy Series honors for Louis C.K. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver took the Comedy/Variety Series trophy and the 71st Golden Globe Awards took the nod for Comedy/Variety Special. Here’s the full list:
