Check List

We report the occurrence of several remnant stands of Trithrinax schizophylla Drude in Porto Murtinho municipality, southwestern Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. Until recently, the species was considered as probably extinct in the country. Trithrinax schizophylla is found only in the Chaco provinces of Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia, with a narrow strip in the southwestern region of Mato Grosso do Sul. The region is one of the most modified inside the Pantanal wetland in Brazil, and conservation actions are in need to protect this and other species in the region.

In an investigation carried out at the headquarters of Jequitibá in Três Picos State Park, the presence of the sandfly Migonemyia vaniae Galati, Fonseca & Marassá, 2007 was observed. Morphometric analyzes of the sperm pump and aedeagal ducts and photographs of the structures were performed to compare the differences between Migonemyia vaniae and Migonemyia migonei (França, 1920). Since its description, Mg. vaniae has been recorded only in the state of São Paulo. Therefore, we report the first encounter of this species in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

We provide a checklist of angiosperms collected in the Paraná River Delta Region during the 1990s and early 2000s. Plants were taxonomically identified and classified according to their origin (native/endemic and exotic) and functional group based on their distribution, biological type, morpho-ecology, photosynthetic type and life cycle. A total of 79 families and 375 species were recorded, of which 87.5% were native (46.93% of subtropical-temperate distribution) and 12.5% were exotic (62.72% of temperate distribution). The herbaceous broadleaf and graminoid vegetation predominated in native (76.65%) and exotic (82.35%) species groups. There were only equisetoid herbaceous plants in native species group. Rooted emergent plants and the C3 functional group predominated among native (88.69% and 80.62%, respectively) and exotic (100% in both cases) species groups. The Okhla Bird Sanctuary (OBS), a man-modified floodplain wetland having high human impact, is located in an urbanized landscape. Its location in the Central Asian Flyway of migratory birds makes it an ideal transit and wintering ground for birds. This paper describes the vegetation composition and significance of the Sanctuary as a bird habitat. A floristic survey was carried out from winter 2009 to spring 2010 while preparing a management plan for OBS. 192 species of plants belonging to 46 families were recorded from the area. Thirteen species of weeds were observed covering 70% of the sampled area in peak summer. Among trees, highest density was found for two exotic species viz., Leucaena leucocephala and Prosopis juliflora. The aquatic system is facing threat from proliferation of Eichhornia cressipes and Typha angustifolia. Strategic eradication of invasive and plantation of native species in the sanctuary are needed for better management.

The wild boar is one of the most dangerous invasive species. It is widespread in the world, including records for many Brazilian states. However, there is a lack of record from Maranhão state. In the present study, we reported a population of wild boar inside the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, in Barrerinhas county, State of Maranhão. We discuss about the negative effects of this introduction on native species, including a record of predation by wild boar in nests of endangered turtles.

This checklist aims at providing anyone interested in Sardinian ornithology with an up-to-date list of the species recorded on the island up to the present time, together with their phenological status.
The latest updated list of Sardinian birds was published in the mid 90's (Grussu, Rivista italiana di Ornitologia 1995 and 1996). Subsequently, a series of positive events stimulated research on Sardinian ornithology. In the spring of 1997, the setting up of the Gruppo Ornitologico Sardo made it possible to co-ordinate most of the agencies engaged in this research which until then had been divided among different work groups. Some months later the presentation of over 30 papers on Sardinian avifauna during the 9th Italian Ornithological Conference (Alghero, 1997) and the publication of Aves Ichnusae, the first ornithological magazine of Sardinia, highlighted the high standard reached by ornithology on the island. In the same period, groups of birdwatchers (both from Italy and abroad) visited the island more frequently, thus contributing to the knowledge of Sardinian avifauna.
All these elements made it possible, during the period 1995 - 2001, to provide precise information on the status of a great number of species present on the island and to ascertain the presence of further accidental species. After 6 years, I think it advisable
to provide an update of the checklist of the species recorded on the island up to now.

Los instrumentos que conforman el Sistema de Evaluación Empírica de Achenbach son ampliamente utilizados en todo el mundo para evaluar los problemas de conducta en niños y adolescentes . El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la estabilidad temporal de la Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) y el Formulario de Informe del profesor ( TRF), administrado a los padres y maestros de niños en edad escolar, respectivamente. La estabilidad temporal se evaluó con base en el coeficiente de correlación intraclase (CCI). Una alta fiabilidad test -retest se observó tanto para el CBCL y TRF ( 0,87- 0,91 y 0,62-0,80 para la escala total del comportamiento, respectivamente). Estos resultados sugieren que ambos instrumentos se mantuvo estable durante el período de un año evaluado, lo que sugiere la estabilidad del instrumento y corroboran los hallazgos de estudios internacionales previos.

Herein we report 22 individuals of Xenosaurus newmanorum representing a new state record for Hidalgo, Mexico from the Municipality of Pisaflores. Previously, this species was known only from the Municipality of Xilitla in San Luis Potosí. These new records extend the distribution of this species 13.6 km south of its previously known occurrence. We also compare total body and tail lengths for the lizards in addition to cloacal temperatures and several measurements associated with microhabitat characteristics, which are equivalent at all three sites. That microhabitat congruence suggests that its preservation is critical for protecting X. newmanorum from population decline.

An inventory of butterfly species in relation to food sources and climatic factors influencing their diversity and richness was studied from March 2015 to February 2017 in Satchari National Park. We recorded 195 butterfly species representing 125 genera under 21 subfamilies and 6 families. Nymphalidae was the more dominant family contributed 32.8% of the total species followed by Lycaenidae (25.7%), Hesperiidae (24.6%), Pieridae (8.2%), Papilionidae (7.7%) and Riodinidae (1.0%). The highest species diversity and richness were reported from pre-monsoon. Out of 195 species identified in the Satchari National Park, 79 species (40.5%) were observed sipping out only nectar from different flower sources while others obtained their food from both floral and non-floral resources such as puddles, excreta, carrion, rotten fruit and blood of vertebrates. Highest number of butterflies were documented from Lantana camara (73) followed by Chromolaena odorata (60), Leea indica (30), Tridax procumbens (23) and Mikania micrantha (15) respectively. The butterflies were most frequently attracted to white flowers (52.2%) during nectar feeding. Temperature was positively correlated with the total number of species (r=0.417, p=0.04) whereas rainfall and humidity were negatively correlated with the total number of species (r=-0.43, p=0.03 and r=-0.50, p=0.01).

This paper presents an updated checklist of
Amphibians and Reptiles of Montenegro. The
checklist contains 52 species (including two
species complexes), compiled from published
literature and personal field surveys. Species
complexes are the Anguis fragilis complex and
the Lacerta viridis complex. Trachemys scripta is
introduced, while Podarcis siculus is potentially
introduced species. Migratory species include
three sea turtles (Caretta caretta, Chelonia
mydas and Dermochelys coriacea). Additionally,
there are four potentially present species
(Proteus anguinus, Mediodactylus kotschyi,
Tarentola mauritanica and Podarcis tauricus),
which presence is doubtful or still not confirmed
with certainty in Montenegro. National and
international protection as well as conservation
status of Amphibians and Reptiles is given.

The vascular flora of the Isola delle Femmine Nature Reserve (NWSicily): check-list updating and
turnover analysis. An updated check-list of the vascular plants growing on Isola delle Femmine is
here presented about 50 years after the first one was published. Nowadays 219 infraspecific taxa live
there: 105 of them are confirmed, while 114 are new to the island; we recorded the disappearance of
29 entities (much of thembeing therophytes). Present life-formspectrumputs in evidence the prevalence
of therophytes (ca. 62%), followed by hemicryptophytes (ca. 20%), geophytes (ca. 9%),
chamaephytes (5,5%), nanophanerophytes (2,3%) and phanerophytes (1,8%). As concerns chorogical
spectra, the Mediterranean element still is the most common (ca. 33%), while endemic and
subendemic elements are very poorly represented (6 taxa, i.e. 2,7%of the local vascular flora). Comparing
our check-list with the previous one, we recorded three new endemics and a strong increase
of alien and wide-ranging plants (today 18% of the total amount vs. 8% of the first census), which
probably depends not only upon the short distance of the islet from the coast of Northern Sicily, but
it is also due to the uptake of propagules of allochthonous species performed by the local colony of
Yellow-legged gull Larus michahellis, foraging in disturbed places such as dumps, artificial water
reservoirs, human settlements, etc. Some detailed information on the plants of major biogeographic
and/or conservation interest has been provided, too. If we compare the two available check-lists it
comes clear that the intense floristic turnover (particularly affecting therophytes) is accompanied by
the costancy of both life-form and primary strategies’ spectra. This pattern is probably due to “substitution”
of disturbance factors: the ceasing of grazing pressure was immediately followed by the
demographic boom of the seagulls. This seabird is thought to be the most effective local dispersal
vector of plant propagules, even if further investigation is required to confirm this hypothesis. The
concluding remarks are focused on the opportunity of managing and monitoring alien plants’ invasion
and seagull colony.

El Centro Ecológico y Recreativo El Zapotal (CEREZ) se caracteriza por presentar uno de los últimos remanentes de selva mediana en la región central de Chiapas, México. Sin embargo, el conocimiento de algunos grupos taxonómicos de la reserva no es del todo adecuado. En este trabajo se analiza la composición y estructura, así como la distribución temporal de los escarabajos coprófagos que habitan en el CEREZ. Se realizaron muestreos mensuales entre febrero de 2013 y enero de 2014 utilizando trampas de caída cebadas con estiércol de seis especies de mamíferos que se mantienen en cautiverio al interior del Zoológico Miguel Álvarez del Toro (ZooMAT). Se presenta una lista anotada de 22 especies agrupadas en 12 géneros y seis tribus de Scarabaeinae. Onthophagus anthracinus, Canthon femoralis, Onthophagus landolti y Copris laeviceps aportan el 89.7% de la abundancia total. La curva de rarefacción muestra una tendencia asintótica, con un 92% de completitud. La fauna capturada muestra una marcada distribución temporal (p < 0.01), observando los valores más altos de riqueza y abundancia durante los meses de la temporada lluviosa. Los registros representan el 7.53% de la diversidad conocida en México y el 18.2% de las especies reportadas en el estado de Chiapas. A pesar de representar un pequeño remanente de selva tropical y de la constante presión antrópica generada por la zona urbana, El Zapotal conserva una fauna de escarabajos coprófagos representativa a nivel regional, resaltando la importancia de la reserva como refugio de especies.

The Tripa Peat Swamp Forest (TPSF) suffers from deforestation due to agriculture, this habitat degradation potentially has a negative impact on fish biodiversity and community assemblages. The objective of this study was to develop an inventory of the fish fauna, evaluate the spatial variation in assemblage structure, document alien species, and quantify the economic value of fish species found from the area. Fish assemblages from the main rivers and tributaries of TPSF were sampled on May to June 2013. A total of 764 individuals were sampled during the survey, constituting 34 families, 47 genera, and 73 species where 46 species are categorized as fish consumption, 17 have potential for aquaculture, and 10 species have potential for ornamental, and three are non native. Получившийся контрольный список призван стать рабочим справочным инструментом для начинающего переводчика, а также для преподавателя юридического перевода.

The paper aims to build up a list of problems and guiding principles of legal translation. This is neither a to do list nor an algorithm, but, more realistically, a list of what a translator needs to keep in mind when working on legal texts. The resulting checklist is intended to be a working reference tool or a reminder for novice translators and/or for translator trainers.

The Black Hawk-Eagle Spizaetus tyrannus (Wied, 1820) is a typical forest raptor classified as an endangered species in the state of Minas Gerais, southeast Brazil. Threats include deforestation and fragmentation of forest areas. Although the present investigation points 16 new records of the species in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero, it is noteworthy that the advance of mining activity and expansion of forestry of Eucalyptus spp. in this region are subtracting the forest remnants and increasingly reducing available habitats for this predator inside its limits.

Specialists in Judô are able to analyze a throwing technique in terms of performance, however it is unkown a well-defined criteria to quantify the differences. If throwing technique is to be studied, it is necessary to assign values to perform them. Thus, the aim of this study was to elaborate and validate two qualitative tests of movement pattern of the Judô’s throwing technique tai otoshi, named "Global configuration" and "Kuzushi." The judo specialists analyzed nine edited blows and
ten surveyors analyzed the clarity, pertinence and the understanding of checking list. The results showed that the checking list proposed is reproductive and reliable to Tai
Otoshi’s movement pattern evaluation.

A list of fishes collected in the N’sele River, a large affluent tributary of Pool Malebo, in the Democratic Republic of Congo is provided. Sites along the main channel and its affluent tributaries were sampled and 148 species distributed in 27 families are reported. Despite close proximity to the megacity of Kinshasa, the ichthyofauna of the N’sele River has not previously been documented, and in the course of the current study, 19 of the 148 species are recognized as new records for the region. Due to difficulties of access much of the middle reach of the N’sele River remains to be inventoried and, while the present report documents high diversity in this system, the list is likely to be incomplete. Although preliminary, the current report provides a solid foundation for further work in a region that is undergoing rapid environmental degradation.
