Clustering Algorithm

Data analysis plays an indispensable role for understanding various phenomena. Cluster analysis, primitive exploration with little or no prior knowledge, consists of research developed across a wide variety of communities. The diversity, on one hand, equips us with many tools. On the other hand, the profusion of options causes confusion. We survey clustering algorithms for data sets appearing in statistics, computer science, and machine learning, and illustrate their applications in some benchmark data sets, the traveling salesman problem, and bioinformatics, a new field attracting intensive efforts. Several tightly related topics, proximity measure, and cluster validation, are also discussed.

Feature selection is one of the issues that have been raised in the discussion of machine learning and statistical identification model. We have provided definitions for feature selection and definitions needed to understand this issue, we check. Then, different methods for this problem were based on the type of product, as well as how to evaluate candidate subsets of features, we classify the following categories. As in previous studies may not have understood that different methods of assessment data into consideration, we propose a new approach for assessing similarity of data to understand the relationship between diversity and stability of the data is selected. After review and meta-heuristic algorithms to implement the algorithm found that the cluster algorithm has better performance compared with other algorithms for feature selection sustained.

In this paper an efficient method for data clustering is proposed. The proposed algorithm is a modified psFCM, called the pshFCM clustering algorithm that finds better cluster centers for a given data sets as compared to the cluster centers obtained by he sFC. Tecmpuatinalperormnceof he ropsed pshFCM algorithm is comparable with thepsFCM and the FCM.

All clustering methods have to assume some cluster relationship among the data objects that they are applied on. Similarity between a pair of objects can be defined either explicitly or implicitly. In this paper, we introduce a novel multiviewpoint-based similarity measure and two related clustering methods. The major difference between a traditional dissimilarity/similarity measure and ours is that the former uses only a single viewpoint, which is the origin, while the latter utilizes many different viewpoints, which are objects assumed to not be in the same cluster with the two objects being measured. Using multiple viewpoints, more informative assessment of similarity could be achieved. Theoretical analysis and empirical study are conducted to support this claim. Two criterion functions for document clustering are proposed based on this new measure. We compare them with several well-known clustering algorithms that use other popular similarity measures on various document collections to verify the advantages of our proposal.

We illustrate with two simple examples how interactive evolutionary computation (IEC) can be applied to exploratory data analysis (EDA). IEC is particularly valuable in an EDA context because the objective function is by definite either unknown a priori or difficult to formalize. The first example IEC is used to evolve the "true" metric of attribute space. Indeed, the assumed distance function in attribute space strongly conditions the information content of a two-dimensional display of the data, regardless of the dimension reduction approach. The goal here is to evolve the attribute space distance function until "interesting" features of the data are revealed when a clustering algorithm is applied. In a second example, we show how a user can interactively evolve an auditory display of cluster data. In this example, we use IEC with genetic programming to evolve a mapping of data to sound functions in order to sonify qualities of data clusters.

A Web services-based toolkit for supporting distributed data mining is presented. A workflow engine is provided within the toolkit to enable a user to compose Web services to implement particular point solutions. Three types of Web services are provided to implement data mining functions:(1) classifiers;(2) clustering algorithms; and (3) association rules. ABSTRACT In this paper, an approach for profiling email-born phishing activities is proposed. Profiling phishing activities are useful in determining the activity of an individual or a particular group of phishers. By generating profiles, phishing activities can be well understood and observed. Typically, work in the area of phishing is intended at detection of phishing emails, whereas we concentrate on profiling the phishing email. We formulate the profiling problem as a clustering problem using the various features in the phishing emails as feature vectors. Further, we generate profiles based on clustering predictions. These predictions are further utilized to generate complete profiles of these emails. The performance of the clustering algorithms at the earlier stage is crucial for the effectiveness of this model. We carried out an experimental evaluation to determine the performance of many classification algorithms by incorporating clustering approach in our model. Our proposed profiling email-born phishing algorithm (ProEP) demonstrates promising results with the RatioSize rules for selecting the optimal number of clusters.
