Pengertian Fatigue Fatigue adalah kondisi dimana seorang mengalami kelelahan. Kondisi fatigue harus di minimalisir saat bekerja/berkendara. Karena sangat membahayakan bagi yg bersangkutan ataupun rekan kerja lainya. Akibat Fatigue Fatigue dapat mengakibatkan hilangnya kewaspadaan, mengantuk, lalu tertidur ketika bekerja/ berkendara. Akibat lainnya adalah hilangnya refleks, lamban dalam mengambil keputusan, serta menurunnya kemampuan berkendara. Kondisi Fatigue terjadi saat-saat sebagai berikut : a. Saat mengemudi dengan jarak jauh b. Saat mengemudi di jalan yang sama dikarenakan dilakukan berulang kali sehingga menjadi jenuh c. Saat mengemudi di malam hari setelah bekerja seharian ataupun sebaliknya d. Waktu istirahat sebelumnya kurang, sehingga mengakibatkan hutang tidur e. Setelah makan makanan dalam porsi banyak Hal yang menjadi masalah adalah terkadang karyawan tidak menyadari bahwa dirinya sudah sangat lelah. Ia menganggap cukup fit untuk bekerja ataupun duduk di balik setir. Karena itu, mengenali gejala Fatigue penting diketahui. Gejala fatigue adalah sebagai berikut : a. Sering menguap b. Konsentrasi dan refleks berkurang lalu menurunnya kewaspadaan c. Mengantuk, perasaan agak melayang dan tertidur ketika mengemudi terkadang tidak diketahui. Kondisi ini sering sekali menyebabkan unit keluar dari lintasan dan berakibat kecelakaan. d. Tertidur ketika berkendara, beberapa kejadian buruk mengenai kecelakaan tunggal penyebabnya adalah driver tertidur ketika berkendara. Situasi ini membuat driver tidak dapat mengontrol atau mengambil keputusan dengan tepat sebelum terjadi tabrakan. Jika sudah mengalami kondisi seperti ini lebih baik karyawan ataupun driver berhenti untuk istirahat sejenak. Mencegah terjadinya Fatigue semakin parah, karyawan tersebut ataupun driver harus melakukan sebagai berikut : a. Beristirahat 15-30 menit dan tidak lebih dari 12 jam berkendara dalam sehari b. Beristirahat cukup 6-8 jam sebelum berkendara c. Tidak dalam pengaruh alkohol dan obat-obatan

Objective: Definitions and measures of significant others' mental health vary, but stress processes have been associated with caregiver outcomes of this kind. Thus, various mental health outcomes probably appear, either as specific responses to particular types of caregiver stressors, or as part of a general response resulting from an accumulation of various stressors. The present study explores the occurrence of symptoms of strain with regard to depression, exhaustion, and emotional well-being in significant others of patients dying from lung cancer, and how these symptoms coexist.Methods: Measures used were the Montgomery Åsberg Depression Rating Scale, the OLdenburg Burnout Inventory, and the Swedish Health-Related Quality of Life Survey. Data from 84 significant others of patients dying from lung cancer were collected at a time-point during the last 4 months before the patients died and subsequently analysed. The occurrence of symptoms of strain was established by creating cut-off scores from the general population. To explore how the different symptoms coexisted, hierarchical agglomerative cluster analyses were conducted using Ward's method.Results: Approximately 40% of the significant others reported symptoms of strain for each of the three outcomes, and a coexistence was found since the significant others clustered as subgroups, ranging from ‘high on all scales’ to ‘low on all scales’.Conclusion: A considerable proportion of the significant others were thus negatively affected in terms of mental health. We conclude that being a significant other of a person dying from lung cancer most likely results in a general response to this major life event. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Background: Daily fatigue is a problem for many people because of its association with other illnesses. Maca has lately attracted considerable attention as a food for recovering from fatigue. Maca is high in benzyl glucosinolate which improves endurance capacity by preventing glycogen depletion. However, its effect on fatigue has not been investigated in clinical trials on humans.
Objective: The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of maca supplements on reducing fatigue.
Methods: This study evaluated the effect of the consumption of maca extract containing benzyl glucosinolate (9.6 mg/day) on fatigue in adult women. This randomized, placebo–controlled, parallel–group double–blind study enrolled 60 subjects who were allocated to consume maca extract or placebo for 4 weeks. A visual analogue scale (VAS) for fatigue was used to evaluate the results. Blood variables and adverse events were used to assess safety.
Results: In both groups, the VAS of fatigue was decreased after 4 weeks compared with that before consumption. On stratification analysis, in subjects younger than 45 years, the VAS was significantly lower in the maca group, and the change between before and after supplementation was significantly larger in this group.

Conclusions: It was suggested that intake of maca extract containing benzyl glucosinolate may have anti–fatigue effects in young women. So, maca supplements containing benzyl glucosinolate represent a food and drug candidate for reducing fatigue.
