This qualitative case study of travel journalism in the USA explores how freelancers produce on speculation because publications do not contractually guarantee pay or advanced resources for travel. Freelance travel journalists therefore experience their work as an investment into an uncertain return in an undefined future. This article shows how such speculation manifests itself as a new productive process and relations of organisational externalisation in lean capitalism. Examining the changing obligations between freelancers and publications without assignment-contracts, this study argues that speculation presents the obfuscation of production. It externalises the risks of production onto the freelancer; reduces organisational control over production; and changes occupational norms and practices.

Nowadays,  outsourcing  became  a  very  growing term  used in  business  especially  in the modern countries. In this project we are going to introduce this principle to our people  by  employing  it  as  an  application  that  offer  freelance  jobs  to  our  graduates who are suffering from high rates of unemployment.
Our  project  is  a  web-based  portal  that  allows  businessmen  or  small  companies  to offer freelance projects to be done by the qualified graduates and got them paid for their  tasks.  Freelance  work  is  the  future  of  employment  and  this  can  be  showed clearly  in  modern  countries  as  most  of  their  graduates  go  toward  the  work  as freelancers.
We  have  built  our  system  using  ASP.Net  and  uploaded  it  to  a  special  domain  to  be available for public.
Finally, we have introduced a chapter to study the opportunity for this project to get success in real world.

In the recent elections in the US various views have been advanced about why mass media did not predict the rise of Donald Trump. This has led to a round of renewed critique of mass media and suggestions on what is wrong with the way people receive their information via the fifth estate of online social media and pundits. There is also a critique of how journalists gather information. This new research provides several paradigms for analyzing media failure and insights into truths about where media blindspots lead to narratives fed to the public. It looks at the industry as a whole, the twenty year shift to online media content, and how content is generated.

Freelancing has become a popular trend these days as the alternative to the typical nine to five job. People doing freelancing finds independent lifestyle, good salary, can get to know high skilled people and become experts in a certain area within a very short time. Though the demand of work is high, there are so many freelancers in the various online marketplaces so the chance to get another job after finishing one is a very tough situation to handle. As a developing country, Bangladesh and its youth are very much interested in doing freelancing work over the online. But lack of working quality, lack of reasonable internet and the high price of electronic accessories already make a freelancer’s life tough in Bangladesh. Moreover, the social aspects are trickier as so many people here discourage to go for a challenging job rather than finding a government job. Primary object is to know the overall situation of freelancing in Bangladesh and how freelancers are coping with their career in 2018. This research finds out the social, economic and the educational factors of freelancing and recent impact on the people of Bangladesh. Also, how the government can be more helpful to the freelancers and how these could impact the whole society have been discussed. The study is based on both qualitative and quantitative methods. A questionnaire has been conducted in the google forms and around 25 freelancers were interviewed. In addition to these, a focus group discussion (FGD) and a case study has been conducted to make the research as the qualitative one. Major findings of the study reflected that freelancing is directly and positively related with reducing unemployment rate in the country, government should put more emphasis on the assistance of freelancing community, and reasonable internet cost should be introduced.

The article challenges the widespread notion that, in the age of global and instantaneous communication, foreign correspondence is becoming “redundant.” Based on a range of in-depth interviews with foreign correspondents in London, it examines the identity, newsgathering routines, and outputs of journalists working for a range of foreign media organizations. The study suggests that foreign correspondence is indeed evolving, but the changes are not necessarily for the worse. In fact, not only foreign journalists are not disappearing, but the heavy use of new communication technologies—rather than leading to superficial and low-quality reporting—can indeed support the pursuit of exclusive news-story angles and a fuller delivery the correspondent’s value.

When first exploring the idea of zwischennutzung the initial attraction was the idea of temporality, and
the minimal investment required to transform a vacant space into a place where people spend their time. When
describing the concept of Betahaus during an interview I was told, “It was really important to do it in Beta… it’s
a tryout… that’s why its beta… if you have an idea today then you can try it tomorrow easy,” (Fahle, 2013).
In a city with so much vacant space, full of creative minds who desire to try something new there was a need for
strategies that would allow experimentation. The city is not a constant but is rather unpredictable at best, and a
planner’s job is to organize this chaos into some semblance of order. In a time when change is occurring instantaneously
we must adapt new strategies for both urbanism and architecture that can become more flexible and
fluid in their nature. Zwischennutzung and coworking are both physical representations of these urban experiments
that are allowing people to try new things, and allowing development to become more integrated with the
pace at which we live today. We can no longer build cathedrals over the course of 20 or 200 years every time
we want something new. Our cities are already established and with a large portion of our space being vacant
or underutilized we do not always need to create new structures, but only to readapt and repurpose the spaces
we already have around us. My NEURUS research analyzes the rapidly expanding phenomena of collaborative
independent work spaces known as coworking communities, where exchanges of ideas, information, and inspiration
transpire into projects and partnerships.

Freelancers work for companies, but also apart from them - at home, on site, or in shared workspaces. This chapter examines how clients and freelancers manage and organise the employment relationship at a distance. Utilising interview data with freelancers working in the Dutch creative industries, Henri Lefebvre’s method of ‘rhythmanalysis’, Nitzan and Bichler’s theory of ‘capital as power’, and John Holloway’s understanding of human creativity as ‘doing’, the chapter examines the conflicting rhythms of freelance creative work. It shows that freelancers remain subject to traditional workplace-oriented structures of control, particularly in creative agencies. Freelancers’ use of time must correspond to client processes of measurement and valuation. Different client relationships, and the proximity they imply, produce different rhythms of work.

Changes in the labor market (e.g. outsourcing, subcontracting) have led to the
appearance of "new" types of careers, focused on the employee's personal growth, as
well as to an increase in the practice of freelancing. Some features of freelance work
could potentially foster the development of these employee-centered career paths.
Freelancing-prone professions (i.e. translation) provide ideal conditions to study this
phenomenon. A sociodemographic and occupational questionnaire was applied to a
group of translators working in the Chilean market (N = 276), alongside Shockley's
Subjective Career Success Inventory (2015). Income, work experience and frequency
of translation work were found to be strongly associated with translators' levels of
subjective career success, while freelance work was found to be highly associated with
translators' perception of authenticity

Il mondo dell'accessibilità nell'era moderna è un campo in continuo aggiornamento: ciò garantisce libero spazio all'avvento di nuove professionalità e al raffinamento di tecniche preesistenti. Nel seguente articolo si vuole fare luce sul mondo di professionisti e freelance del panorama del sottotitolaggio per sordi (SPS) e delle audiodescrizioni (AD) per fornire un prospetto della situazione generale dei professionisti in Italia. Grazie ad una ricerca condotta tramite un questionario mirato e interviste ai professionisti dell'accessibilità, si cerca di fare luce sulla situazione lavorativa attuale di queste figure professionali, dando spazio ad eventuali spunti che possono scaturire da questo lavoro nel condurre future ricerche, concentrandoci sugli aspetti lavorativi e su tutto ciò che ne consegue.

Este artigo pretende constituir-se um guia preliminar para eventuais pesquisas que se debrucem sobre o tema, ao oferecer parâmetros de análise, indicar fontes primárias e secundárias, realizar um levantamento bibliográfico preliminar e apresentar uma proposta de periodização histórica para a evolução da Inter brasileira nestes 200 anos. Ao fim, trata-se de fornecer subsídios a demais pesquisadores que se aventurem a reconstituir o percurso traçado pelo Jornalismo Internacional produzido no Brasil e suas especificidades socioeconômicas, tecnológicas, ideológicas, discursivas e pragmáticas.

The last study of foreign correspondents in the London hub was conducted 30 years ago. Based on a new study involving a range of in-depth interviews with foreign correspondents in the British capital, the article reveals the ‘‘story behind their stories’’ and the changes that have occurred since then. It particularly focuses on the impact that advances in communication technologies have had on the correspondents’ professional identity, newsgathering routines, and news outputs. The findings contribute to a more nuanced and empirical understanding of the impact of media globalization on the practice of journalism. They underline the increasingly important role of foreign correspondents as ‘‘sense makers’’ within the huge tide of information available. While foreign journalists have to a large extent always fulfilled this function, they appear more needed than ever in a deeply interdependent world. Foreign correspondents are also developing novel ways of reporting. Indeed, rather than a ‘‘crisis’’ of foreign correspondence, we could perhaps be witnessing its renaissance.

Muchos tienen el deseo de viajar por el mundo y vivir temporadas en diferentes países o simplemente quieren cambiar el país en donde viven por otro y muchos optan por los países de América Latina, quizá por ser los más fáciles de ingresar, muchos entran por sus comodidades, otros belleza que se pueden encontrar o simplemente para tener una mejor calidad de vida.

How are international relations constructed in an age of media ubiquity and globalization? How to explain the way both official and non-official actors contribute every day to shaping international politics in an increasingly interconnected world? What is the link between, on the one hand, individual and local practice and, on the other hand, the transformation of international affairs? The paper presents the findings of an empirical study that takes up the challenges posed by the ‘practice turn’ in international relations. Based on the case study of the UK and over forty interviews, it focuses on the daily practices of two sets of actors who operate at the interface between the national and the international dimensions and who are in a privileged position to “construct” the UK—its image and discourses—to the eyes of publics abroad: foreign diplomats and foreign correspondents based in London. The findings demonstrate that, within an appropriate ontological framework, the study of micro-practice can successfully account for the way in which individual thinking processes, respective organizational perspectives, and appropriation of emerging communication technologies ultimately translate into change at the macro level of international relations.

Indeed, the experience of the London foreign journalists reveals that we are not only living through a period of transformation of foreign correspondence. The analysis suggests that, rather than a “crisis” of foreign correspondence, we could perhaps be witnessing its renaissance."

Since 2005, journalism has experienced a series of seismic changes due to economic factors, technological changes, and shifting priorities and news values. Photojournalism has been particularly affected by technology and business model changes, leading more outlets to rely on often geographically remote freelancers at the expense of dedicated photo staffs. These remote working environments and the mediated communication they necessitate have profound impacts for photojournalists’ development, roles, and responsibilities. Through in-depth interviews with photo editors and freelancers at top media outlets in the United States and guided by professional socialization, mentoring, and learning theories, this study explores what happens when the photojournalist–editor relationship is strained, mediated, or severed. It also seeks to examine what impact mediated interactions have on photographers’ learning and the quality of the media they produce. The findings reveal that the post-digital freelance model is more linear than the hierarchical staffer model and has a positive influence on workforce diversity, albeit at the expense of freelancers’ professional development and their opportunities to receive feedback from editors.

Media sociology literature supports the assumption that freelancing as a way of life should have an impact on the self-presentation behaviors of journalists. The present research is concerned with how journalists—employed and freelance—frame their identities and disclose relevant information in
social media spaces through a quantitative content analysis of Facebook fan pages (N = 468). Freelance journalists, faced with employment instability and fewer organizational constraints, may hypothetically be less guided by journalistic principles. Specifically, we created measures to investigate
how their visual (i.e., profile images) and verbal (i.e., self-categorization, textual formality, skills) fronts differed in these settings. The results revealed that freelance journalists communicated a more serious professional self, emphasizing their journalism skills and identifying less with organizational
attributes. A separate analysis showed that females were more likely to post an image with a smile and share personal information on social media channels, while men presented a more serious front. These results suggest that freelancers similarly align with employed journalists concerning their journalistic ideals, but the need to secure consistent work likely influences the degree that they share personal content. Overall, however, descriptive results show that most journalists wrote about themselves rather than writing about their connection to journalism or humanity.

Una serie de cambios en el mercado laboral (ej., tercerización; subcontratación) han causado la emergencia de nuevas carreras laborales, centradas en el crecimiento personal del empleado, y el aumento en la frecuencia del trabajo independiente, cuyas características permitirían desarrollar este tipo de carreras. Algunas profesiones, como la del traductor, ejercen este tipo de trayectoria con más frecuencia que la mayoría. Se sostuvo que los traductores con trayectorias laborales independientes desarrollarían más la dimensión del éxito laboral subjetivo relacionada con su vida personal, y que los traductores que ejercen su traducción con mayor frecuencia harían lo propio respecto a la dimensión de autenticidad. Se aplicó un cuestionario sociodemográfico y laboral a un grupo de traductores chilenos y residentes en Chile (N = 276), así como el inventario sobre el éxito en la carrera laboral subjetivo (SCSI) de Shockley et al. (2015), traducido al español. Se encontraron asociaciones entre variables sociodemográficas, laborales y las dimensiones del éxito laboral subjetivo. Adicionalmente, se realizó un análisis predictivo de estas dimensiones a partir de las variables del cuestionario. Se mantuvo la hipótesis relacionada con la autenticidad de los traductores. Ejercer la profesión de traductor con mayor continuidad tendría efectos positivos en los niveles de éxito en la carrera laboral subjetivo, particularmente respecto a las dimensiones de autenticidad (rs = 0,408, p<0,01) y satisfacción (rs = 0,388, p<0,01). Por otro lado, el comportamiento de la dimensión vida personal sería más complejo, e iría más allá del ejercicio independiente de la profesión (U = 8275, p = 0,095).

Freelancers, social entrepreneurs and artists have intervened in the social fabric by operating in peculiar, but somewhat analogous ways, blending collaboration, entrepreneurship and creative practice in an original manner. Each from their own standpoint, they now reclaim a central role in an urban collaborative scene that they commonly consider the space for the enactment of their creative, (self)entrepreneurial endeavours. Their subjectivity, as we are about to observe, is similarly characterised by a political attitude towards change and an ideological disposition to ‘newness’, that is made explicit in the attempt to combine economic with what may be seen as forms of ‘aest-ethical’ action – and is nonetheless frustrated in the capacity to coalesce as a collective subject within and beyond the fragmented scene they inhabit. By operating in a milieu largely determined by a market economy, yet nonetheless experimenting with forms of commons-based peer production, we argue that freelancers, social entrepreneurs and artists are manifestations, in their own peculiar ways, of that process of ‘re-embeddedness’ of the economic into the social (Pais and Provasi, 2015) that seems to characterise the current socio-economic conjuncture.

Switching medicines from prescription to non-prescription using various safety profiles enhances a timely access to medication to the consumers. Besides, reclassifying medicine also reduces the risk of under-treatment by strengthening self-management. However, the population is exposed to ruthless cartels that lead to variations in the prices of RX-OTC switched drugs. This paper seeks to examine the wholesale prices of drugs approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory agency) in cities across the United Kingdom. The study will hence provide the price trends of the medicines in response to the RX-to-OTC switch. Besides, a difference-in-difference approach is used to examine the impact of indirect price controls in the OTC drugs in the UK before and after the reclassification. This methodology will enable the researcher to estimate and compare differences between the outcomes of the policy at two points. The prices of drugs over the counter before the intervention will be contrasted with the prices after implementing the controls. The main assumption of the study will be that the change in policy and economics affected study participants and non-participants in similar ways.

Luego de compartir el artículo sobre emigrar SIN CADIVI he recibido muchas consultas que lamentablemente no puedo contestar una a una, así que quisiera dedicar este artículo a responder la duda primordial de muchos profesionales: ¿Cómo proyecto mi carrera profesional en el mercado freelance?

В данной работе рассматривается процесс имплементации норм «Рамочного соглашения о телеработе» и формирования национального трудового законодательства Бельгии в области правового регулирования Интернет-занятости. Несмотря на быстро растущий интерес современных исследователей к новым формам и типам занятости, в том числе и базирующихся на Интернет-технологиях. Проработка зарубежного трудового законодательства, а особенно норм трудового права в области регулирования Интернет-занятости в Бельгии, на данный момент недостаточна и требует более пристального внимания исследователей. В качестве методов данного исследования выступили анализ законодательной базы Бельгии и Европейского Союза, российской и зарубежной научной литературы. В рамках данной работы определены особенности и степень имплементации «Рамочного соглашения о телеработе» в национальное трудовое право Бельгии, в сравнении с некоторыми другими странами Европейского Союза. Выделена существенная роль наднационального права при формировании бельгийского законодательства в области регулирования Интернет-занятости.
