Background:The Bluetooth wireless headset has been promoted as a ‘hands-free’ device with a low emission of electromagnetic radiation.Objective:To evaluate potential changes in hearing function as a consequence of using Bluetooth devices, by assessing changes in pure tone audiography and distortion production otoacoustic emissions.Design:Prospective study.Materials and methods:Thirty adult volunteers were exposed to a Bluetooth headset device (1) on ‘standby’ setting for 6 hours and (2) at full power for 10 minutes. Post-exposure hearing was evaluated using pure tone audiography and distortion production otoacoustic emission testing.Results:There were no statistically significant changes in hearing, as measured above, following either exposure type.Conclusion:Exposure to the electromagnetic field emitted by a Bluetooth headset, as described above, did not decrease hearing thresholds or alter distortion product otoacoustic emissions.

Human beings with power of senses (Ḥawās) for the purpose of feeling through seeing, touching, smelling, hearing and tasting with the aids of major organs of man, ranging from eye, hand, nose, ear and tongue or mouth. It is with this power of sense that human beings are raised in status and position above all other animals.. However, Qur'ān addresses its significance in relation to human beings and building of their characters. Sūratul-Baqarah is one of the chapters of the Qur'ān that discusses that. Out of these senses; hearings and sights or visual and audio are very significant that are worthy of study in this paper. It suggests that, apart from old age that can cause damage to the brain, wrong characters to include rebellion to instructions of Allah usually lead to its dysfunction. According to the Sūratul-Baqarah, the combination of the two sensitive organs of hearing and seeing helps greatly in grasp knowledge and characters building. Conclusively, Sūratul-Baqarah plays substantive role in building human characters. Characters like sincerity, uprightness, trust, righteousness etc.

The current study was performed to understand the level of sound produced by ventilated racks, animal transfer stations, and construction equipment that mice in ventilated cages hear relative to what humans would hear in the same environment. Although the ventilated rack and animal transfer station both produced sound pressure levels above the ambient level within the human hearing range, the sound pressure levels within the mouse hearing range did not increase above ambient noise from either noise source. When various types of construction equipment were used 3 ft from the ventilated rack, the sound pressure level within the mouse hearing range was increased but to a lesser degree for each implement than were the sound pressure levels within the human hearing range. Background: Complex working memory (WM) span tasks have been shown to predict speech-in-noise (SIN) recognition. Studies of complex WM span tasks suggest that, rather than indexing a single cognitive process, performance on such tasks may be governed by separate cognitive subprocesses embedded within WM. Previous research has suggested that one such subprocess indexed by WM tasks is proactive interference (PI), which refers to difficulties memorizing current information because of interference from previously stored long-term memory representations for similar information.
