Innovation statistics

Crowdsourcing has become a mega trend in recent years, fueling innovation and collaboration in research,
business, society, and government alike.

In this paper, we provide an overview of the theoretical contributions of crowdsourcing to improve democratic governance. We then examine the critical factors necessary for successful crowdsourcing in general (Sharma 2010) and discuss the inherent challenges and risks, particularly in fragile states. We then provide numerous examples from important crowdsourcing and interactive mapping phenomena and initiatives in Haiti, Libya, Sudan, and Guinea
among others. Most of these examples were taken from personal experience, and their accuracy was  checked with key actors. We return to analyzing these cases according to Sharma’s framework. Finally, we provide recommendations for donors.

PART V: CONCLUSION

This article claims that the emergence of television in the 1950s must be interpreted as a conservative media revolution. It aims at revisiting some of the popular narratives about the emergence of television as a revolutionary moment in media history and questions the newness of television in the European mass media ensemble. Focusing on a set of privileged sites of negotiation where the tensions between the conservative and modernising agencies of the medium became most visible or explicit, the article emphasizes the ambiguous and contested nature of television as a new medium. Finally, the author pleas for an integral approach to media history that studies the intermedial relationships and interdependencies between television and other mass media.

Bricks are one of the most important items of construction activities. India is the second largest brick producer in the world. It is continuously expanding on account of a rapid increase in demand for bricks in infrastructure and housing project. In order to meet this demand, over 150,000 brick units provide direct employment to more than 8 million workers. The annual turnover of the industry is Rs. 8000 crore (Approx). With the restriction in use of clay in manufacturing of bricks, fly ash brick is best substitute for it. Growing awareness among the prospective and potential building & consistent efforts by Govt. fly ash brick is incorporate in the schedule of various construction agencies. With the change of demand of the society, fly ash bricks are gradually increasing day by day not only in the metropolitan cities but also in urban & rural sector. All construction works are dependent on bricks. This research paper presents a comparison of fly ash bricks and clay bricks. Data is collected through questionnaires and personal interviews targeting Consultants, Engineers, and Traders. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is adopted to evaluate the responses collected from the respondent by Independent Samples T-test.

This thesis investigates the case of a generic business concept, the Web Bazaar, and evaluates its fit with current market conditions and trends. Further, it assesses strategic considerations that would be critical for a successful commercialization of the concept. Our findings do indeed suggest that the Web Bazaar concept fits with current market conditions
and trends, but identifies several challenges for a commercialization process. These challenges are broken down and discussed in our Analysis, and met with concrete suggestions of fitting strategies to overcome them.

Το παρόν σύγγραμμα εξετάζει το φαινόμενο των Νέων Μέσων και της δημοσιογραφίας των πολιτών ταυτόχρονα από τη σκοπιά της ηθικής, της επικοινωνίας, αλλά και του δικαίου της επικοινωνίας. Απευθύνεται σε όλους όσοι ασχολούνται σε επίπεδο θεωρίας ή πράξης με τα Νέα Μέσα και το Δίκαιο της Επικοινωνίας και, δεδομένου ότι η γλώσσα γραφής του είναι απλή και κατανοητή, μπορεί να αποτελέσει σημαντικό βοήθημα όχι μόνο για τους νομικούς, αλλά και για κάθε πολίτη-χρήστη των Νέων Μέσων.

Het vergt veel energie en ... leidt helaas in lang niet alle gevallen tot de gewenste uitkomsten (zoals prettiger verleende zorg, met betere effecten, vanuit een soepeler zorgorganisatie). Op deze plek verken ik theorieën over veranderings- en vernieuwingsprocessen in de (verslavings)zorg.

The purpose of this paper is to critically examine the institutionalization of demand-driven modes of working in the R&D planning process and reveal possible weaknesses, through an analysis of a system of collective R&D funding by farmers. The findings indicate that, although end-users have the opportunity to raise issues that lead to R&D, queries are influenced by several actors in the R&D planning process in such a way that they do not adequately reflect farmers’ innovation needs. Conclusions are that more emphasis is required on joint demand articulation and involvement of end-users and other stakeholders in the innovation process, and on the institutional development of R&D funding organizations in order to adopt a more inclusive view on innovation.

L’articolo riporta una serie di riflessioni dedicate all’accezione dei termini “costo” e “qualità” in relazione dell’edilizia dedicata al Social Housing dai programmi di ricostruzione postbellica al periodo attuale. Ciò avviene anche in riferimento all’esigenza di sostenibilità del costruito studiata durante il Workshop della laurea magistrale in costruzione tenutosi nel giugno 2010.

En este proyecto de investigación se relacionan las variables de innovación y emprendimiento como motores de la economía moderna en Colombia. Para esto se tomó una muestra de 182 empresas colombianas de manera intencional,utilizando el modelo de ecuaciones estructurales(SEM), mediante el paquete estadístico IBM SPPS Amos V. 24.Se concluye que larelación existente entre el emprendimientoyla innovación permite a las organizaciones ser más eficientes en un entorno altamente competitivo

The paper investigates the extent to which the adoption of Internet software and services in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been strategic, i.e. based upon the exploitation of the network characteristics of the new technology. Within SMEs, it seems that opportunistic motivations towards the adoption of the Internet, i.e. until cost-effectiveness of adoption becomes apparent to managers, are predominate. In applying a modified strategic use model, the paper considers strategic use as the ability of business users to recognize the strategic elements in the usage of the Internet and to relate them to network formation in the specific user environment. The extent of strategic use is linked to communication requirements, competitive pressure and the support and incentives in the adoption process of the Internet by SMEs. The empirical analysis employs a large data set on 264 Dutch SMEs that provided detailed information on their adoption of Internet services and software. The research shows that the communication requirements have been a motivating factor of Internet adoption by SMEs. Other strategic determinants derived from the diffusion literature such as competitive pressure or support and incentives for adoption hardly stimulate SMEs to adopt the Internet.
