In many business organizations, database applications are designed and implemented using various DBMS and Programming Languages. These applications are used to maintain databases for the organizations. The organization departments can be located at different locations and can be connected by intranet environment. In such environment maintenance of database records become an assignment of complexity which needs to be resolved. In this paper an intranet application is designed and implemented using Object-Oriented Programming Language Java and Object-Relational Database Management System Oracle in multithreaded Operating System environment.

The proliferation of unrestricted Internet access has brought the community spam which has become a serious problem costing companies billions of dollars per annum. Typical anti-spam measures, such as filtering and blocking techniques, exist but focus on solving the spam problem on the message transportation level. Using such techniques may have impacts beyond the realm of spam- filters and block lists. In this paper we argue that implementing typical anti-spam measures means that computers are assigned the power to assess legitimacy of email. This means, for example, that legitimate email might be rejected because the sender used the 'wrong' mail server or the wrong terminology. In this paper, we describe some of the core problems and discuss alternatives.

This article proposes a pedagogical framework for teaching an introductory data communications and networking (DCN) course to Management Information Systems (MIS) undergraduate majors within a school of business. Building on the material provided in commonly used DCN undergraduate textbooks, the course introduces students to both theoretical and applied knowledge necessary to solve business and DCN techno logy problems. Since it is taught in a business school, the course encompasses students' previous business course work, and has a strong business case orientation. All MIS majors at the senior level are required to take it.

The classic challenge in writing object-oriented programs (OOP) is finding the right decomposition into classes and objects. This problem arises whenever programmers need to deal with crosscutting concerns. Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) is a well known methodology to overcome this issue by modularizing crosscutting concerns using aspects. Programmers are slowly realizing the importance of AOP since it creates cleaner code. But AOP breaks encapsulation in joint points and modifies flow control, making the source code hard to understand.AOP is not very well tested and documented and there is a lack of specific development tools. That’s why it is mainly used only for maintaining the system, rather than being a good choice for developing the initial version of the system. The main goal of this paper is to increase the acceptability of AOP by offering some tips against its drawbacks.

This paper outlines the design and development of an interactive virtual laboratory toolset, TelcSim, designed to enhance students' learning of basic telecommunication principles. This study establishes the increasing demand for technically competent IT professionals throughout this decade. Next, the mix, motivation, and background of students entering the university environment to obtain the skills necessary to meet this demand are explored. Based on the result of this analysis and the examination of current learning theories, their use and applications, a virtual laboratory toolset (TelcSim) was developed. A preliminary evaluation of TelcSim shows great promise and meets the goals set forth during its design. Recommendations for further development and enhancements are explored in conclusion of this article. Included are screen prints showing a sample of TelcSim features.

Due to its parallelism property in processing the data, the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) has been gaining wide interest in recent years as a tool for processing data. Different ANN architectures have been defined for various applications. Yet, a number of difficulties existed when building an ANN like training time, over-training problem, retraining of the net for new types of data. This paper presents a new ANN architecture, which we called "MS/Ayad-Marwan Network" (MS stands for Multi-Stage), that compose of supernet and subnets ("Stage" architecture). The "Computer-Assisted" approach is used to develop this NN. Also, in this paper, a new learning algorithm has been proposed, which is required for adjusting weighting values for MS/Ayad-Marwan neural network. We called this algorithm a "hybrid unsupervised/supervised learning paradigm" This learning algorithm is used for training both supernet and subnets. Inheritance property of OOP plays an important role in the reasoning approach of MS/Ayad-Marwan Network, in that it deduces the final solution by gathering the property of the super network with the properties of its sub(s), to reach the ultimate goal. Thus, the results become more accurate. We called his reasoning approach " Deductive auto-associative recalling". MS/Ayad-Marwan ANN has been applied to an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) application. This new network architecture is being able to recognize phonemes with >91% accuracy. We note through the results a promising advancement has been reached and hence a Multi-Stage strategy is useful in applications of "high changeable data" property, like ASR. "MS/Ayad-Marwan" Neural Network has been implemented and tested using MATLAB, as a part of the ASR system.
