Although the incidence of T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is higher in Far East Asia than in Western countries, its incidence and clinical course in Korea are not well-defined. Therefore, we assessed the relative frequency and clinical features of T-cell NHL in Korea. We performed a retrospetcive analysis of 586 patients with NHL. 101 (17.2%) had T-cell NHL. The most frequent subtypes of T-cell NHL were extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (NASAL), peripheral T-cell lymphoma, unspecified type (PTCL-U), and anaplastic large cell lymphoma, T/null cell, primary systemic type (ALCL). The seven pathological subtypes could be classified into three prognostic subgroups. When patients with the three most frequent subtypes were grouped together, their survival was reflected in the International Prognostic Index (IPI) scores. Knowledge Management is something of a fad in modern business press and it addresses key issues that can lead to success within organizations. It addresses how organizations are able to manage the knowledge embedded in its systems and contained in the heads of its employees. Yet knowledge management is not bound to businesses only. Even the education sector sees the necessity of opening up and embracing this new trend. Petrides and Nodine [1] highlighted the use of knowledge management in education to enable encouragement of greater intelligence, practical know-how, and effectiveness of education institution. Applying the context of Public Secondary School Administrators in Peripheral Masbate, Philippines, this descriptive research assessed the knowledge management concepts of public secondary school administrators focusing on knowledge creation, retention, transfer, and utilization along familiarity, extent of experience, extent of influence of the factors affecting knowledge management practices, and the aspects of school management that benefit from proper knowledge management. The study yields significant findings: (1) Public secondary school administrators are moderately familiar and moderately experienced in knowledge management; (2) Dominant factors that influence the school administrators' knowledge management practices are vital and must be taken into consideration; and (3) Options for knowledge management advancements are imperative.

Perinatal transmission is the most common cause of HIV infection in pediatric population below the age of 15 years. Much progress has been made to decrease the risk of transmission than just offering the option of medical termination of pregnancy to the mother. Future research is needed not only to develop the simple preventive program, but also to make it more cost effective, acceptable and accessible to the general population. Following review article focuses on the factors affecting the transmission of HIV, strategies for prevention of MTCT with special reference to use of nevirapine and breastfeeding practices in HIV positive mother. The role of counseling and voluntary testing is also stressed upon.

This research aims at examining the factors influencing housing characteristics in Lagos peripheral settlements. Using case study strategy, eighteen peri-urban settlements in Ikorodu, a Local Government Area outside Lagos Metropolitan region, were selected for this study. Data was collected through primary and secondary sources which include survey questionnaires and direct observations. Using two stage sampling techniques, questionnaire was distributed to households in purposively selected peri-urban settlements. Data collected through field survey were analysed using frequencies, percentages, cross tabulations and test of correlation while qualitative data were analysed using descriptive analysis. Findings revealed the major factors influencing housing characteristics in the study area are housing initiatives, residential segregation and residents' socioeconomic attributes. Different housing initiatives in the study area performed differently in terms of typology and resident's perception. Socioeconomic attributes revealed a multi-cultural households composition, reasonable literacy level. It is recommended that improved and timely regional policy response to the pace and pattern of development of housing development under the self-help housing initiative in Lagos peri-urban settlements would help in curbing high level of informality and also ensure a high quality and user performance peri-urban housing developments.

To compare arterial blood pressure (ABP) measured invasively (IBP) to ABP measured non-invasively (NIBP) via oscillometry in healthy anaesthetised and standing horses using the Bionet BM7Vet. Fourteen horses were anaesthetised for elective procedures (anaesthetised group) and 10 horses were enrolled for standing blood pressure manipulation (standing group). In both groups, IBP and NIBP-corrected to heart level were measured every 3 min using the Bionet BM7Vet. The overall mean difference (bias), standard deviation and limits of agreement (LOA) were calculated for paired IBP and NIBP systolic (SAP), mean (MAP) and diastolic (DAP) blood pressure measurements. Cardiac output (CO), blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) were estimated in 13 non-athletes, in 10 highly trained athletes and in 8 lower-class athletes at rest. HR and BP were found to be lower in both trained groups than in the controls. CO was lower in the top athletes, while it proved to be higher in the lower-class athletes. Total peripheral resistance (TPR) was higher in the top athletes while it was found to be reduced in the lower-class athletes than in the controls. These results indicate that in the maintanance of resting blood pressure level in the physically trained subjects alpha adrenergic mechanisms predominate whereas the share of beta influences is lower, however, this shift is observed only in the highly trained, top-rank endurance athletes.
