Older Australians to pay more for aged care at home

Aged Care Minister Anika Wells looks set to make retirees pay more for in-home aged care packages, saying the government wanted to get the balance right between how much taxpayers and the elderly pay to fund aged care.

The Albanese government’s aged care taskforce said in its final report, released last week, that it was neither “optimal” nor “fair” that taxpayers forked out 95 per cent of the cost of in-home care packages and 75 per cent of the cost of residential aged care funding.
