When it’s worth giving up government subsidies to stay home for longer
There may be more home care packages in the recent federal budget, but in some cases you would be better off financing care yourself.

The additional 24,100 government-subsidised home care packages announced in this year’s federal budget are a welcome addition to the existing pool of about 280,000.
However, for someone hoping to remain living in their home independently for many years, the availability of these packages is only the start of what can be a very unsatisfactory journey.
