    The additional 24,100 government-subsidised home care packages announced in this year’s federal budget are a welcome addition to the existing pool of about 280,000.

    However, for someone hoping to remain living in their home independently for many years, the availability of these packages is only the start of what can be a very unsatisfactory journey.
