"The Housemaid is Watching" is the third, and in my opinion, the best book in Freida McFadden's three book "Housemaid" series. It is now over a decade later than the previous book, and Millie and Enzo are now married with two children, Ada, 11, and Nico, 9.
When the book begins the family have moved from a small Bronx apartment to a single detached home on Long Island. Millie has completed college and is a social worker, and Enzo is expanding his landscaping business, but money is tight. They meet the Lowells, their next door neighbours, and Mrs. Lowell, a real estate agent, promises to recommend Enzo to her clients.
All, however, is not good in the neighbourhood, and the reader becomes engrossed a suspense situation leading to the death of Mr. Lowell. Enzo is initially arrested, but he is covering for someone else. So who committed the murder and why?
I found the plot engrossing, and the book is a very good read.
