It's a rather disturbing read, I did enjoy reading it but the ending was so sad and depressing, mind you should have probably realised that from the title.

The seller did everything they said they would but the book itself just isn't great. Nowhere near the standard of The Godfather

Having previously read and been captivated by the Godfather, I worked my way back over Puzo's work, and have come to his first, The Dark Arena.
If you are expecting a gangster book, you will be surprised. This is an intelligent and poignant book set in post-war Germany. It addresses a side to the aftermath of WWII that is not often covered, and it does so with a hard and unsentimental approach.
The characters are grittily realistic, flawed anti-heroes who Puzo has not gone out of his way to make likeable. It is a powerful novel and in the same way that the Godfather carries within it lessons about the male path through life, so does the Dark Arena.

A Story with a strange and unfamiliar background. A lullaby in the midst of war ruined surroundings. Highly catching our eyes with beautiful velvety story telling. Nice experience and unforgettable characters. Kudos to our MP as a new line of enjoyment entrenched in my heart.
