Biker dies in A76 crash in East Ayrshire

A biker has died following a crash on the A76 in East Ayrshire.

The 34-year-old man was riding a blue Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle when the crash happened at 18:55 on Monday.

He was travelling between Kilmarnock and Mauchline and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions between Crossroads and Crosshands for a crash investigation before it re-opened around 02:45.

Police Scotland's Sgt Martin Cunningham said the force's thoughts were with the family of the man who died.

He added: "I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened and anyone driving in the area who has dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation to please get in touch."
