US gun laws: Kamala Harris calls for assault weapons ban

US Vice-President Kamala Harris has called for an assault weapons ban, in the wake of a shooting at a primary school classroom in Uvalde, Texas, where a gunman killed 19 children.

Ms Harris had been attending the funeral of Ruth Whitfield, who was shot and killed at a supermarket two weeks ago in Buffalo, in the state of New York.
