James Anderson opened the bowling for England in his final Test, but wasn't among the wickets in the morning session at Lord's.

Debutant seamer Gus Atkinson took the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie in the second hour of the day, before Harry Brook took a spectacular catch to remove Mikyle Louis off the bowling of captain Ben Stokes.

West Indies closed the session on 61-3, with England well on top.

West Indies scored 16 runs in the first two overs this morning, then 45 in the remaining 26.

That means that over 26% of their runs came in the first 12 balls.

England will be delighted with that first session, especially after not taking a wicket in the first hour.

Mikyle Louis played some eye-catching shots in his 27 but the boundaries have dried up since his departure. Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge are digging in for West Indies' middle-order rescue.

I like Hodge's mindset - he is looking to score and put the bad balls to the boundary.

Ben Stokes gets through another probing over, ending it with a chat and a laugh with Joe Root.

He's bowled seven overs, 1-14. It's been a great spell. West Indies are digging in, but going nowhere.

We should have time for two more overs before lunch.

The challenge for the West Indies is that their young players don't get the time to hone their craft in Test cricket - it's a drum that needs beating, no matter how uncomfortable that makes people. It can't be right that only three teams in the world play five-Test series. In what other sport would you have that and still call it a level playing field?

There was never a single on! Don't get run out at Lord's, the Home of Cricket.

Ironically, it's Jimmy Anderson who can't buy a wicket at the moment. He's getting plenty of movement, and Kavem Hodge edges one past his stumps before there's a mix-up that almost results in a run out.

Steady. Only 10 minutes until lunch.

Ben Stokes on to 199 Test wickets, one off a double of 200 wickets and 6,000 runs. Only Sir Garfield Sobers and Jacques Kallis have done such a double. Decent company.

West Indies were 34-0 after 10 overs. They're now 46-3 after 23.

England have squeezed brilliantly.

Harry Brook has worked really hard on his fitness and has spoken about how he can up his contribution to the England team. There's the pay-off.

The catch was brilliant, and Mikyle Louis was looking settled on 27 so West Indies are in a pickle now. We know that their batting is their weak point, and Stokes has got the ball on a string.

This is a very, very welcome sight for England.
