James Anderson opened the bowling for England in his final Test, but wasn't among the wickets in the morning session at Lord's.
Debutant seamer Gus Atkinson took the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie in the second hour of the day, before Harry Brook took a spectacular catch to remove Mikyle Louis off the bowling of captain Ben Stokes.
West Indies closed the session on 61-3, with England well on top.
