Bristolians are set to be hit by hours of very heavy rainfall, according to the Met Office. From around 1pm today, Sunday, February 25, the city is expected to see large amounts of rain and powerful gusts of wind, which may cause significant disruption on roads in the West Country.
Forecasters believe up to 40mm of rain could land in the South West amid a 12-hour weather warning, with possible flooding across the region. While the warning does not cover Bristol or North Somerset, the Met Office does predict around 11-hours' worth of rainfall this afternoon and tonight.
The bad weather is set to move in from the north east this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to stay low, at around 6C, with strong winds making it feel only around 2-3C. At their peak late on Sunday, winds could exceed 40mph, forecasters say.
