Posted @withregram • @goodshepherdrehab Good Shepherd Rehabilitation is proud to announce that we have been awarded $25,000 as part of the @reevefoundation National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) 2023 Direct Effect 2nd Cycle Quality of Life grants.

The grant will support continuing to provide specially trained exercise physiologist services at Optimal Fitness at Good Shepherd in Allentown — the only adaptive fitness center within a 95-mile radius of the Lehigh Valley.

Guss has been an Optimal Fitness at Good Shepherd member since his spinal cord injury in 2023. When Guss started at the gym, he had trouble walking on his own; today, he’s a dedicated gym member who is able to walk without an assistive device.

“I’m starting to get addicted here,” Guss said of Optimal Fitness. “I come twice a week and spend an additional hour to use the electric bike. I love coming here to work hard and get stronger.”

Reeve Summit 2024 was a wild success! 200 attendees from across the country came together to share ideas, learn from each other, and network. We were proud to host keynote speakers Imani Barbarin @crutches_and_spice, Dr. Ashley Shew @ashleyshooo, and Dr. Forber-Pratt @anjalifp84, as well as a special violin performance by Amy Wang-Hiller @thrive_on_wheels. Thank you to all of our speakers, special guests, and attendees for making this year's Summit so special.

A huge thank you as well to our sponsors and exhibitors! A special shout out to @verbit.ai for their in-kind donation of CART captioning services, which allowed the Summit to be more accessible!
