Undergraduate application

At CEE, we believe our strength lies in our people, including our students. For this reason, we are dedicated to providing a valuable and rewarding undergraduate experience in and outside of the classroom.

Our Bachelor of Science programs in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering allow you to pursue your interests and engage in unique exploration while earning your degree. Our curriculum teaches fundamental knowledge and technical skills through a flexible, hands-on approach with interdisciplinary project courses that bring together students across the department. With an emphasis on innovation and collaboration, an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering provides the foundation for our graduates to thrive in their field.

"To me, the Civil and Environmental Engineering department is my workplace, my study area, and where I can chat with peers or professors. I consider it my home because we foster a family here, taking care of one another while helping each other."
- Kojo Aduhene, Undergraduate student
“Being part of CEE means engaging, hands-on classes and a built-in community. I love taking a project course each year, as it reminds me of why I decided to study engineering in the first place. The community engagement that the CEE department fosters through events and classes means that I feel welcomed not only in my own cohort but in the department as a whole.”
- Katharine Hart, Undergraduate student

New admissions policy: Students now apply directly to an engineering major

Students applying to the College of Engineering can choose their major at two times: when applying to a major directly or when applying undecided and making a selection in the spring of their first year.

Students who apply directly to a major are admitted directly to that major or, in the case of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a department. Students who are accepted to Civil and Environmental Engineering will declare either Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering at the end of the fall semester of their first year.

Students admitted as undecided within the College of Engineering are allowed to choose among the primary majors during the spring semester of their first year.

Requests to change majors will be considered after the first year but are not guaranteed to be approved and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
