KARACHI: A missing boy was found raped and murdered on the outskirts of the metropolis on Thursday.

Police said that the body of a child, aged around eight years, was recovered from bushes near ‘Tent City’ established for the flood-affectees at Link Road. The corpse was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Steel Town SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada while quoting the doctors said that the boy was killed with a hard and blunt instrument that was hit on his head. The doctors also told the police that the boy was subjected to sexual assault before being murdered.

The officer said that the boy belonged to a flood-affected family. He had left his home in Tent City on June 11 to sell chips but could not return home at night.

Next day, his mother lodged a report at Steel Town police station about his missing.

‘Robber’ lynched in Surjani

A suspected robber was lynched in Surjani Town on Thursday, police said.

Surjani Town SHO Asadullah Agha said that two suspects snatched cell phones and other valuables from three citizens at gunpoint in Sector-51-A near Rickshaw stand. As they were fleeing, the victims and other people chased them and caught one of them.

The angry people gave him a severe beating, which resulted in his killing on the spot. His accomplice, however, managed to escape. The SHO claimed to have recovered the looted valuables. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where his identity could not be ascertained immediately.
